Brian Head Welch (ex-Korn) Week: Day 3 |
"Rebel" is about abused children rebelling from abuse and turning to a radical life of faith rather than a life of violence, drugs and crime like so many kids do. My daughter, Jennea, sang on the verses along with six other kids that made up the kids choir. It's cool to be able to include my kid in my music now. She was always pushed aside when I was in Korn.
We know you are anxious to hear what Head's new music sounds like, so you can grab previews from "Save Me From Myself," learn more about the album and Head's new autobiography and more right

Did Courtney Ruin Nirvana? |
In his book, "Bumping Into Geniuses: My Life Inside the Rock and Roll Business", former record label exec and artist manager Danny Goldberg writes, "Courtney's very presence was a metaphor for the end of one era in the band's life and the beginning of another," adding that Love became Cobain's "mouthpiece" shortly after the two became a couple.
Goldberg says he was initially "charmed" by Love, but soon became aware that she had "numerous personae she could call up at will, and this would be the last time I would ever see Courtney as an underdog."

Fear Before The March Of Flames Lose The Flames |
Regarding the name change, guitarist Adam Fisher jokes, "It gets so tiring repeating 'Fear Before The March Of Flames' over and over again to old lady gas station attendants in Nebraska" but adds, "Mostly because in so many ways, we're a new band." Bassist Mike Madruga explains the long version of the name was a personal challenge to the members. Now that they feel they've met the challenge, it's time to get down to the roots of the band. "The long version of the name was good for us in the beginning because it was interesting and stood out. It paralleled our mentality of playing the music we were writing because we told ourselves, 'If we can pull off having this name, we had better be able to pull off the music we were writing.' The new album is 10 strong songs, no fillers or tag-ons... and we want the band name to replicate that."
The decision for a self-titled album seemed like a no-brainer. "It is essentially the same reasons as the name change. We want it to be identified by its songs," says Madruga. The songs certainly do reflect the new Fear Before. "Lyrically, this record is the most positive material we have done. It is a written history of all the emotions we have experienced through the course of the band's 6 years." Fisher adds, "A lot of it has to do with sticking around through all the hard times we've endured as a band. It's about growth and making mistakes but dealing with them instead of dwelling on them."

Alabama Thunderpussy Break Up |
"It's been a very quiet 2008 from us here in ATP thus far. I know there has been speculation and uncertainty about exactly what the status of the band is, and our apologies go out to y'all for being MIA. Finally, I'm able to give you an update. The beginning of 2008 brought yet more upheaval in the saga that is this band, when (vocalist) Kyle Thomas left the group to focus on his family and the impending EXHORDER reunion.
The remaining four of us had a band meeting and after serious discussion, decided to take a much deserved/needed few months hiatus to regroup and focus on home life and other individual projects. The 'few months' seemed to flow into a bit longer as the summer progressed and we all dug deeper into our lives as individuals outside of ATP.
Well, we finally regrouped and after much deliberation and thoughtful discussion, we have decided to end the band. There are no hard feelings between us and no bull---- politics. It's pretty much just the end of an era

"When I was writing 'Stay Back,'" explains singer/guitarist Jason C. I assumed the role of the person who knows he's a spoiler, but has enough morality left to warn the other person."
