Boys Like Girls DVD

Columbia Records reports: Boys Like Girls' self-titled debut album has been certified gold by the RIAA with the album's singles "The Great Escape" and "Hero/Heroine" achieving platinum and gold status, respectively. And now, Columbia Records will release read between the lines, the appropriately titled first-ever DVD from the Boston-based rock-pop quartet, on Tuesday, November 4.

read between the lines is a 100-plus minute DVD centering around 45 minutes of concert performances featuring 10 songs recorded live during the Soundtrack of Your Summer Tour. The DVD release traces the band's career from their early days of eating Ramen Noodles and sleeping on each other's floors, to headlining their hometown arena just a few short years later.

Combining historic band footage, candid interviews with Martin, Bryan, Paul and John, and live footage shot throughout this summer's Soundtrack Of Your Summer tour, read between the lines is a dream come true for fans, who can relive the excitement of the band's live performances, access exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews and backstage footage, and experience personalized accounts of Boys Like Girls' rise to fame. Skinny Puppy Ogre Launching Solo Tour

PR reports: Electronic music icon and Skinny Puppy vocalist Ogre is taking his OHGR project on the road with a 25-date tour.

The tour is in support of the highly anticipated new release Devils In My Details, which arrives in stores November 18.

The opener for the tour is American Memory Project, consisting of two ohGr collaborators, filmmaker/guitarist William Morrison and drummer/composer Justin Bennett. Black Tide Get Animated

PR reports: Black Tide has just launched their Warriors of Time Animation series. The six part series is explained best by the band themselves, "Our Hero, known as The Bastard, is a living embodiment of metal music. We pit him against a robotic legion whose influence spans all of time and space.

"The song speaks to the urge in everyone to rage and rock out against all outside expectations. It is a call to arms against a mundane existence, and the Bastard is always there to answer in force, slaughtering the robot conformist authority for the sake of youth, rebellion, and the undying spirit of true metal."

Peter Lang The DNA Of The American Musical Experience

PR reports: The New York Times said in November '07 that America had lost sight of its musical roots. In March '08 Guitar Player magazine hailed Peter Lang's new CD Testament as "the DNA of the American musical experience."

Lang describes the early blues of Testament as "a tribute to the bloody, beautiful music that hooked me at age eight, that made me pick up a guitar at ten." The CD consists of 16 searing covers of seminal blues songs going back to the 19th century, plus a stunning 16-page booklet illuminating the real roots of American music.

Lang agrees with the New York Times. "It's similar to the deregulation of the financial industry--media got deregulated, radio got dumbed down, corporate greed trumped core values," Lang says. "In the case of traditional American music--our cultural birthright--a public asset got privatized, homogenized and left for dead. I'm resuscitating it." - more on this story

New Powderfinger CD Coming Out Next Month

Paul van Dyk Keeping Busy

PR reports: Electronica music icon Paul van Dyk is closing out 2008 with two exciting new projects: he will be releasing a new remix double CD called Hands On In Between and has provided an exclusive remix to the upcoming Electronic Arts album for their highly anticipated title Mirror's Edge.

Paul van Dyk joins such artists as Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails by allowing his fans to put their remix skills to work. Following the incredible response to his fifth artist album In Between, Mute Records will release Hands On In Between, a double disc package of exclusive remixes including two winners of an international talent search for up-and-coming producers sponsored by Beatport.
