PR reports: Lionsgate is pleased to announce the upcoming soundtrack release to Punisher: War Zone, from Marvel Comics' latest film adaptation of fictional vigilante and deadly antihero Frank Castle. The lethal motion picture soundtrack features a powerful collection of A-list rockers including the first new music in 3 years from Rob Zombie in addition to heart-pounding songs from rock icons such as Seether, Slayer, Slipknot and Rise Against. The fifteen-track album attacks stores on 11/25/08. The film opens nationwide on December 5th, 2008.
The original track "War Zone", written for and inspired by the film, contains the kind of raw, throttling energy that has made Rob Zombie a platinum selling artist. The song will also serve as the first single from the soundtrack. About his contribution, Rob Zombie said: "I love writing music for films, rather than just throwing them an unwanted B side or remix. This track was written exclusively for Punisher War Zone. A punishing track for a punishing movie."
The record also features Slayer's 2008 Grammy winning "Final Six" and current chart-topping singles from Slipknot "Psychosocial" and Seether "Fallen". The beatdown doesn't stop there, with a broad mix of new and unreleased music that spans every niche of the rock genre, including unreleased songs by premiere punk group Rise Against and emo scenesters Senses Fail. Dan Trapp of Senses Fail had this to say: "We are super excited to be a part of the Punisher legacy when we heard we were going to be involved, we all threw up in our hands out of excitement."

PR reports: In a time when the lifespan of many bands is less than 20 months, Over the Rhine is about to celebrate a far more rare event: its 20th anniversary. In 1989, the band recorded demos that eventually became their debut album, 1991's Till We Have Faces. Now Karin Bergquist and Linford Detweiler (a resilient songwriting team by any measure) look back on a 12-album discography and hundreds of thousands of road miles traveled.
In celebration and as the year 2008 winds down, Over the Rhine hits the road on a five-part tour. From November 7 9, they will steer Southeast to Greensboro, Athens and Charlotte, with a side-trip to Madison on November 15. Come Thanksgiving, it will be off to Seattle on November 29, moving down the West Coast through Portland, San Francisco etc, with a Los Angeles date on December 6. Louisville and Chicago will be visited on December 11 and 12 respectively.
And then, on December 19 and 20, Over the Rhine offers its piece de resistance, a two-night event at Cincinnati's Taft Theater.

PR reports: In conjunction with the kickoff of the 2008-2009 school year October 6th at Southern California's LA Music Academy, guitar department head Tariqh Akoni today announced the newest instructors to join the school's teaching staff. Additionally, the curriculum has been revamped so every student's experience can be fine tuned more than ever before. Akoni says LA Music Academy will emphasize the tailoring of course work so it applies to each student's aspirations and skill sets. Elaborating on the detail of the revised guitar program, Akoni says, "The basic premise is to provide a more well-rounded system to meet the needs of the contemporary guitarist." He adds, "Our flexible curriculum and specialized training will allow all skill levels to get the most out of their time at the Academy. A guitar department that used to follow a 'one-size-fits-all' approach now offers the incoming student more choices to support their prospective direction."
In addition to Akoni, who teaches Rock and Studio Guitar, the group of core instructors and specialists include respected Jazz guitarist and educator Forman (Jazz) and virtuoso studio great and solo artist Verheyen (Advanced Technique); Bill Fowler will continue to teach Sight Reading; Andy Abad will handle World Guitar and private instruction; German Schauss will teach Advanced and Progressive Rock; Jodie Fisher and Jamie Rosenn join Forman for Jazz instruction; Steve Gregory and Ken Song, private instructors, as well as Art Renshaw (Sight Reading/Jazz), Dave Hill (String Theory/Contemporary Guitar) and Ross Bolton (Funk) round out the highly experienced teaching staff.

PR reports: The new split 12" single 'In The End It's Your Friends / Friends' showcases not only new recordings by both Shout Out Out Out Out and San Serac, but also two vastly differing views on friendship. 'In The End It's Your Friends / Friends' 12" and digital is released Oct 21 2008 by Normals Welcome Records.
Falling right in line with Shout Out Out Out Out's generally bleak lyrical world view, 'In The End It's Your friends' drills home an urgent warning to "beware, because in the end it's your friends that will ---- you over" and a too-true reminder that "it's not backstabbing if you see it coming".

antiMusic reports: On the off chance one of her fans stumbles in here by mistake. Here is some news for you: In celebration of the 40th Anniversary of their initial issue, Collector's Choice is pleased to present, for the first time ever, the CD debut of Liza Minnelli's entire catalog for A&M Records - restored and remastered for this new collection, in 24-bit digital splendor, directly from the original master tapes. Originally released from 1968 through 1972, these four albums, one single, and several rare outtakes represent a unique period in a legend's legacy. The street date is November 25.A time when Minnelli was already past the stage of being an unknown or new artist -- but not quite the superstar she would become just as her association with A&M would end -- and her avalanche of awards began in earnest (including an Oscar for her starring role in the movie Cabaret, and an Emmy for her TV special Liza With a 'Z.') You might think of this historic 2-CD set as "Liza BEFORE The 'Z,'" or 'PRE-'Z.'"
