Dandy Warhols Announce New Project With Their Friends
PR reports: The Odditorium, the Dandy Warhols' famed studio in their hometown of Portland, OR, is more than simply one band's space. It's also home to their friends, the touring and local bands looking for a place to play, to record. The band has always striven to build and promote a community for musicians, and in 2007, they took a very purposeful step in making this a definitive part of their ethos. The Dandys began inviting other bands to participate in a collective project, the artists coming in on their own time to record new ideas over tracks others had already laid down, together creating what becomes a nearly living musical entity.

Called Breathe Easy, the project calls on the talents of artists like the Raveonettes, the Black Angels, J Mascis, Saul Williams, Spoon's Britt Daniel, Midnight Movies, and of course the Dandy Warhols, to bring their separate musical perceptions and abilities to finished product. Genre becomes loosely articulated; what unites the pieces is the emotion, the spontaneity that comes from collaboration and inspiration. It's music that conveys both the individual contribution and the integrity of the whole.

Beginning October 21, 2008, the first of 12 tracks will be sold digitally at specified Breathe Easy sites and embedded stores, and 100% of profits will go to the Three Rivers Land Conservancy. - Check out the trailer

New Maroon 5/Icarus Line Super Group Debut New Song
PR reports: Historics are ready to reveal the swirling and dreamlike "Taverns," the first single and music video off their forthcoming debut album. The hypnotic track stems from the combined forces of three veteran musicians and their diverse backgrounds: Don Devore (Ink & Dagger; Icarus Line), Mickey Madden (Maroon 5), and Josh Grubb (VietNam).

The song is a warm and bittersweet trip laced with Grubb's narcotic, eastern-tinged guitar licks. Madden's steady bass lines provide a subtle yet cathartic anchor, often maintaining the heart of the song while the other instruments erupt into moments of chaos. Devore speak-sings melancholy lyrics such as "breath that smoke, lose your hope" in a beautifully weathered voice one that sounds like it belongs to a man who has seen and done it all.

The video, directed by Brendon Devore, features multiple planes of footage draped on top of one another, mirroring the production of the song and it's layered sonic tapestry. Golden hues outline the band members, giving them a spectral quality while cityscapes float across the screen. Adding to the surreal atmosphere is ominous interspered footage of a bat flying in slow motion as well as the spooky shots of an owl that bookend the video.

Keep a lookout for Historics' full-length album in early 2009, with special guests including Kool Keith and other surprises. For now check out the video

Singled Out: Plushgun
antiMusic reports: Welcome to Singled Out where we ask artists to give us the inside story about their latest single. Today's edition comes from electrorockers Plushgun. The band's mainman Dan Ingala tells us about the song "Just Impolite," a tune with a theme that just everyone can relation to. Here is Dan with the story:

The song is simple: boy meets girl, girl breaks up with boy, back together again, boy breaks up with girl, back together again, end and repeat. Now mix that up with post-graduatorial angst, deciding against law school, and still interning for the occasional free lunch while living in a closet, and you get "Just Impolite."

At the time the song was written, Plushgun did not exist. I was haphazardly attempting to compose for indie flicks, interning at a recording studio, and (when motivated enough) temping for rent. Confused 23 year old post-grads excel at data entry. The only stable part of my life was the predictable fluctuation of my love life, and essentially its breakdown is what caused "Just Impolite." I was confused, as is the song. Happy sounding music with rather defeatist lyrical embellishment serendipitously led to a song that was much deeper than its poppy melody.

Talk Talk Live DVD
Kayos reports: Eagle Eye Media will release British pop stylists Talk Talk on DVD Live At Montreux 1986 October 28. Talk Talk Live At Montreux 1986 documents the band's only Montreux appearance. It runs approximately 90 minutes and contains 14 performances that draw a great response from the packed Swiss crowd.

Talk Talk is one of the most innovative and original British bands of the 1980s. The band is best known for its early synth-pop singles, but was critically hailed for its later experimental forays into ambient "post-rock" and a sophisticated quasi-jazz pop sound.

In this 1986 performance, singer/songwriter Mark Hollis, guitarist John Turnbull, keyboardist Ian Curnow, percussionist Leroy Williams, keyboardist Rupert Black, percussionist Phil Reis, drummer Lee Harris and bassist Paul Webb show why they were "top of the pops." Hollis proves to be a particularly fetching frontman, charismatic and charming. - more on this story

Destroyer Lusty Queen Redux
MMP reports: Destroyers - one of the most influential groups in the entire history of Polish heavy metal. Back in late 80's and early 90's, they were one of the few heroes of the scene, bringing together thousands of metal fans all across Poland.

Metal Mind Productions will re-release Destroyers debut album from 1989 - "A Night Of The Lusty Queen". The album proved to be a true heavy metal masterpiece catchy riffs, powerful vocals and insane drumming made this release an instant classic on the Polish metal scene. Lyrically, the album told tales of honor, betrayal, lust and cruelty, set in a world of haunting legends, brave warriors and beautiful temptresses. The lyrics were often very straight-forward and for that time quite shocking. This exclusive re-release includes bonus tracks taken from the Polish language versions. - more on this story

Attack! Attack! UK Week: Day 4
antiMusic reports: The British are coming, the British are coming. That is Attack! Attack! UK's new self-titled album is coming out next week. To celebrate the pending release from these buzz worthy Welsh rockers, we asked the band's frontman Neil Starr to pick some of his favorite songs from the album and tell us about them. Here is Neil with today's song:

Lights Out: This was the first track we ever wrote as attack attack. I remember myself and Ryan in my living room with an acoustic guitar and when we played the chords it was instantly like "wow" they sound awesome! the song kinda wrote itself because the chords were so perfect together the melody came straight away. The lyrics were inspired by a friend who had split up from a girl . Lyrically Its about saying stuff you don't really mean during a fight with a loved one and not knowing if you will ever get the chance to take those words back.

Check out tracks from the album, get tour dates, read the members blogs and learn more about the coming attack right - here!
