Armed Forces Week: Day 5 "In The Free World" |
I co-wrote this one with Jon (Decious, The Pink Spiders) who played all the bass guitars on the EP and is one of my oldest friends. The chorus was an attempt to write something that The Clash would be proud of, and the verses are meant to be played by a high school marching band.
It was Jon who insisted on the one note guitar solo, which I originally hated. I wanted to have Eddie Van Halen's guitar solo for Michael Jackson's Beat It, but he wouldn't let it go. In the end, I find it to be the most charming moment on the whole record. I guess there's a reason why he's got a record deal and I don't. I wrote most of the lyrics right before I left Memphis- all the stuff about hating my job, getting dropped by girls, and not wanting anything that was offered to me comes from there. It's not a happy place, and I realize in retrospect that I sound like a brat. I guess that's rock and roll, though...take it or leave it.
Now go learn more about the group, check out some songs from the CD and see if you spot something rather interesting about
- the band.
Axl Under New Management, Scott Weiland's |
"I am very pleased to announce that GUNS N' ROSES and I are now represented by the management team of Irving Azoff and Andy Gould. We are very excited and look forward to working with them and hope our relationship proves beneficial for everyone, especially the fans."
It should be noted that up until recently, Azoff Music also managed VELVET REVOLVER, the band featuring Axl's former GN'R bandmantes Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. Azoff is continuing to represent VR's singer, Scott Weiland, an Azoff spokesperson confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET.

NIN Reforming for Extensive Tour |
Trent took to the web on Thursday and made one cryptic announcement about the band reforming and one very clear one about the band's tour plans. Here is what he had to say (and yes he included some tour dates):
"We are coming! Lots going on in the world of nine inch nails... Confirming a very poorly kept secret, the band has been reformed (details coming!) and we are about to embark on an extensive tour. The first wave of dates I can mention at this time appear below. Many more to come! See you soon."

Hip Hop Crime Watch: Remy Ma and T.I. Guilty, Tupac Hoax |
But what about modern hip-hop crimes. Plenty of those going 'round. Jam! reports: "Rapper T.I. pleaded guilty Thursday to federal weapons possession charges and is to be sentenced in one year, after completing a period of community service."
The Jam-ups keep coming with this story about Remy Ma: "Grammy-nominated rapper Remy Ma was led out of a Manhattan courtroom Thursday, weeping and in handcuffs after being convicted of shooting a woman outside a nightclub last summer."
Like the prophet Ice-T once said, "rhyme pays" but you gotta pay the price for crime (unless your a Pulitzer prize-winning writer for the L.A. Times). Get all the details on these stories plus more

Zeppelin Address Reunion Tour Yet Again |
Speaking in the new (May 2008) edition of UNCUT magazine, the Zep singer, commenting on the huge success of their December reunion show at London's O2 Arena, said: "Hopefully, one day, we could do it again. Our profit is - it's metaphysical."
The group's bassist John Paul Jones added: "We (Jones and Page) spoke afterwards, and we both thought the same - it felt like the first night of a tour. You think, 'Oh, I could do that a bit better, or change something in that song.' And we didn't get a chance to do any more."
- Check out the Uncut article which includes a link to watch the ENTIRE reunion performance.
Korn Back on the Kobb With Original Lineup Reuniting? |
Korn 's lineup was stable for the first 12 years and six albums of the band's existence, until guitarist Brian "Head" Welch left the group in early 2005 to devote his life to Christianity. Drummer David Silveria followed in late 2006, taking a "temporary hiatus" to spend time with his family and oversee his restaurant business.
Singer Jonathan Davis, guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer and bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu have carried on with a revolving cast of touring and studio musicians in the interim, vowing not to find permanent replacements.

Goth Murder Convictions |
One of the attackers, Brendan Harris, 15, was found guilty of the murder of Sophie Lancaster. Another attacker, Ryan Herbert, has already pleaded guilty to the murder, according to the NME report which also says that "all five defendants have pleaded guilty to charges of causing grievous bodily harm."
The victims mother, Sylvia Lancaster, issued a statement after the verdict and said in part, "I am convinced Sophie was killed simply because of the way she looked. She did not necessarily conform to the ideals of those who took her life."

Josh Gracin Soph |
Gracin wrote or co-wrote three songs on the new CD and is admittedly most excited about his newest single, the title track, "We Weren't Crazy." The autobiographical song was written by Gracin, Tony Lopacinski, and Bobby Pinson about Gracin's personal journey from childhood to raising children and having a family of his own. "This time around I got to dig in and share my stories as a songwriter. I'm so proud of how this song turned out," he said.

Visions of Scantily Clad Nuns Dance in The Cat Empire's Heads |
For the uninitiated, The Cat Empire have been lauded for their insanely fun, high-intensity live shows. After all, they've traveled across five continents and have performed over 600 gigs. In September, they broke records at The Metro in Sydney by selling out eight consecutive nights at the venue. In the States they've visited virtually every corner of the country, selling out shows and playing festivals like Bonnaroo.
Their latest album, 'So Many Nights,' is due out April 22 on Velour Music Group. The new record, now certified platinum down under, features plenty of horns, expertly crafted songs and danceable Latin rhythms to keep you moving. It's the perfect way to welcome spring, warmer weather and fun in the sun.
