With SCARS ON BROADWAY, the new band featuring SYSTEM guitarist Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan, previously announced for the festival, it's likely that speculation will start about whether the musicians will get together for a surprise SYSTEM reunion.

Moneen Split |
We have spent some of the best years of our lives together, and the time has come for us to follow different paths. However, music does not stop here for any of us! Peter has a solo project named One Grand Canyon, and will be playing drums with From The Bridge.
As for Moneen, we are 9 songs into writing our next record and have never been so excited. Our new drummer is Mr. Steve Nunnaro. He has been a really great friend of ours since we formed Moneen and has played in many great bands around the Toronto area. Anyone from Brampton will know him as the drummer from One More Dream and Thunderhawk. As gloomy as it is to say goodbye to one great friend, it is nice to be re-united musically with another. - slowspace blog

The Blame Game |
Shannon Rodrick claims The Game, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, approached him and said aggressively, "Your team is garbage." Rodrick then says, according to court documents, that Taylor continued to provoke him when, during a time-out, the rapper "sucker-punched [Rodrick] with a closed fist on [Rodrick's] left cheek causing [him] to fall backwards." Rodrick then says Taylor went to his vehicle to get a gun, and walked towards him saying, "I'm going to blast this fool."
The Game was arrested after the incident. He eventually pleaded no contest to felony possession of a firearm in a school zone. He served just eight days of a 60 day sentence before being released.- more on this story

Velvet Revolver's Future Uncertain |
"Scott is OK as far as I know but I can't say he'll be fine when the tour kicks off or when it finishes," McKagan told UK's JournalLive. "You just never know. Addiction is crazy and I should know. I can't be cagey and say, 'Oh no, we're going to be fine and everything's going to go without a hitch.' The truth is I just don't know what will happen. I don't want to read this interview where I've said there'll be no problems and then for us not to finish the tour. I don't want to have to eat my words. All I can say is that right now I'm confident it will happen and we've never sounded better as a band."
McKagan added, "VELVET REVOLVER is something that's going to be around for a long while yet. Because of the individuals involved, there are always going to be things going on around the band that will confuse fans once in a while but we're here to stay. Slash and I have been doing this job for 20 years and nothing is going to get in the way of what we're doing now.- more on this story

E Invites W to DC Eels Gig |
Now E has invited US President George W. Bush and the First Lady Laura Bush to attend the band's upcoming Washington D.C. concert. This may be a hard sell since Bush used the Eels as a campaign issue during his run for office in 2000. (W's people found out that DreamWorks reps were handing out copies of the "Daisies of the Galaxy" album at the Democrat National Convention. The Bush camp pointed out that the album contained such child friendly song titles as "It's A Motherf**ker.")
E doesn't seem deterred and wishes to mend fences with the leader of the free world. According to Billboard, E wrote to Bush saying: "You may recall using our album 'Daisies of the Galaxy' as an example during your campaign for the presidency in 2000. The album was supposed to be a bad example for the kids of America. Mr. President, I know that you're a Christian, and Christ taught forgiveness. So in the spirit of forgiveness and fence-mending, I'd like to let bygones be bygones..."- more of E's message to W

Velvet Revolver For Zeppelin Tour |
"I understand that we have it, although I imagine there will be plenty of bands prepared to kick and punch us out of the way for the privilege!" said McKagan. "I would so love to have been at their London gig before Christmas, but we had dates of our own that obviously took precedence.
"What made up for it was running into Jimmy Page at an awards ceremony and him not only knowing who I was, but also saying he'd caught a couple of VELVET REVOLVER shows. No way did I think in 1977 when I saw LED ZEP in Seattle that one day I'd be hanging out with the guitarist. Things like that I still pinch myself!"- consider that Zeppelin typically didn't use an opening band as you click here to read more
Abba Member Dies In Gardening Accident |
Gigwise has some more details: Sixty-two-year-old Ola Brunkert played with the band on their first single 'People Need Love' and toured with them in 1977, 1979 and 1980. He is the only musician, alongside bassist Rutger Gunnarsson, to be credited on all of the group's albums, and retired to Majorca after the break-up of the band twenty-five years ago.
The BBC reports that police believe Brunkert hit his head on a glass window on Sunday afternoon, sustaining fatal neck wounds from broken glass. He managed to wrap a towel around his neck and stagger through the garden in search of help before collapsing.- more on this story
