Black Tide Week: Day 1 |
"Black Abyss" is a song that I wrote with Jason Suecof. Jason and I had only recorded a demo version the music. I ended up taking the demo version home to work on the rest of the song. Being very family oriented, I showed the music to my older brother Raul. Together, with my brother, I wrote the lyrics to the song. I love the way this song ended up. In the end, this became a song about paranoia and fear.

Sheryl Crow Joining Fleetwood Mac? |
"I don't want to make any official announcements, but I will say that we definitely have plans for collaborating in the future, and we'll see what happens," Crow told Spinner.com.
While she didn't give a firm timetable for this team-up, she did speak about her relationship with Stevie Nicks. "I think the person I learned the most hands-on from is Stevie Nicks because she allowed me not only to co-write with her but also to produce her and she's a true artist," said Crow.

Speculation of a Down Reunion for Coachella |
With SCARS ON BROADWAY, the new band featuring SYSTEM guitarist Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan, previously announced for the festival, it's likely that speculation will start about whether the musicians will get together for a surprise SYSTEM reunion.
The band has been on hiatus since the fall of 2006, with Tankian releasing his first solo album, "Elect the Dead", last fall. The SCARS ON BROADWAY debut is due out this summer.

Moneen Split with Peter |
We have spent some of the best years of our lives together, and the time has come for us to follow different paths. However, music does not stop here for any of us! Peter has a solo project named One Grand Canyon, and will be playing drums with From The Bridge.
As for Moneen, we are 9 songs into writing our next record and have never been so excited. Our new drummer is Mr. Steve Nunnaro. He has been a really great friend of ours since we formed Moneen and has played in many great bands around the Toronto area. Anyone from Brampton will know him as the drummer from One More Dream and Thunderhawk. As gloomy as it is to say goodbye to one great friend, it is nice to be re-united musically with another.

The Blame Game |
Shannon Rodrick claims The Game, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, approached him and said aggressively, "Your team is garbage." Rodrick then says, according to court documents, that Taylor continued to provoke him when, during a time-out, the rapper "sucker-punched [Rodrick] with a closed fist on [Rodrick's] left cheek causing [him] to fall backwards." Rodrick then says Taylor went to his vehicle to get a gun, and walked towards him saying, "I'm going to blast this fool."
The Game was arrested after the incident. He eventually pleaded no contest to felony possession of a firearm in a school zone. He served just eight days of a 60 day sentence before being released.

Shadows Fall Leave Atlantic? |
Speculation is that the band in question is the Massachusetts-based metal group SHADOWS FALL, whose last studio album and Atlantic Records debut "Threads of Life", has sold 93,000 copies in the United States since its April 2007 release a fraction of the 301,000 sales total achieved by its predecessor, 2004's "The War Within", which was released by Century Media.
In a June 2006 interview with MTV.com, SHADOWS FALL singer Brian Fair spoke about jumping ship from Century Media Records to Atlantic for their most recent studio effort. "We were friends with [the folks at Century Media] before we signed with the label, and they definitely went above and beyond what we thought an indie label could possibly do," he said. "They did offer us a great deal [to stay with the company before we signed with Atlantic], but we wanted to ... see if we could take it to another level.

E Invites W to DC Eels Gig |
Now E has invited US President George W. Bush and the First Lady Laura Bush to attend the band's upcoming Washington D.C. concert. This may be a hard sell since Bush used the Eels as a campaign issue during his run for office in 2000. (W's people found out that DreamWorks reps were handing out copies of the "Daisies of the Galaxy" album at the Democrat National Convention. The Bush camp pointed out that the album contained such child friendly song titles as "It's A Motherf**ker.")
E doesn't seem deterred and wishes to mend fences with the leader of the free world. According to Billboard, E wrote to Bush saying: "You may recall using our album 'Daisies of the Galaxy' as an example during your campaign for the presidency in 2000. The album was supposed to be a bad example for the kids of America. Mr. President, I know that you're a Christian, and Christ taught forgiveness. So in the spirit of forgiveness and fence-mending, I'd like to let bygones be bygones..."

Through The Eyes Of The Dead Drop Scum of the Earth Tour |
Back in January the band went through some major changes and said at the time: "We just want to fill everyone in on the current situation with TTEOTD," guitarist Justin Longshore says. "First off, this band isn't going anywhere and we are still doing the Throwdown/Soilwork tour as planned. To avoid any complications, we'll just state that Josh [Kulick, drums] and Nate [Johnson, vocals] have both parted ways with the band under their own circumstances. We wish them the best of luck in the future.
"We are excited to announce that Lech, formerly of As Blood Runs Black, will be handling drums for us on the upcoming tour. He's a monster behind the kit and has proven to us to be the right fit for our style. And stepping into the vocal spot is Lou Tanuis, who has previously put time in with On Paths of Torment and Invocation of Nehek."

Velvet Revolver's Future Uncertain |
"Scott is OK as far as I know but I can't say he'll be fine when the tour kicks off or when it finishes," McKagan told UK's JournalLive. "You just never know. Addiction is crazy and I should know. I can't be cagey and say, 'Oh no, we're going to be fine and everything's going to go without a hitch.' The truth is I just don't know what will happen. I don't want to read this interview where I've said there'll be no problems and then for us not to finish the tour. I don't want to have to eat my words. All I can say is that right now I'm confident it will happen and we've never sounded better as a band."
McKagan added, "VELVET REVOLVER is something that's going to be around for a long while yet. Because of the individuals involved, there are always going to be things going on around the band that will confuse fans once in a while but we're here to stay. Slash and I have been doing this job for 20 years and nothing is going to get in the way of what we're doing now.
