Ill Nino Week: Day 1
antiMusic reports: Ill Nino are back with a new album on a new record label. The band are really fired up for this next chapter in their story and with their new album, 'Enigma,' hitting stores this week we asked frontman Cristian Machado to pick his five favorite tracks from the CD and tell us about each one. Here is Cristian with today's song "The Alibi of Tyrants":

The circumstances under which we live in are beyond the control of the normal person. Our lives are tiny notes scribbled on the sides of a page while the book is being written by people who have no long term belief in our well being. Everything we consume is regulated, processed, and mass produced. We live in a world that is dictated by oil, banks, military, the media, or religion.

You can hear some tracks from the 'Enigma' CD, grab tour dates and more - right here

Plug Winners
PR reports: The winners of the 2008 PLUG INDEPENDENT MUSIC AWARDS were unveiled last Thurs night (March 6) during the sold-out awards ceremony and concert held at Terminal 5 in New York City.

The Patton Oswalt-hosted event included performances by PLUG Award winners Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (PLUG Impact Award) and St. Vincent (Best Female Artist), along with sets by nominees Dizzee Rascal, Jose Gonzalez, The Forms, White Denim and DiVinci.

Another highlight of the event was the debut of the physical PLUG Award. Crafted by Oklahoma City-based artist Larry Dean Pickering, the intent of the piece is multi-layered. Its base represents strength and stability while the spire represents hope. The contrast between the two signifies the "leap of faith" taken in the pursuit of what is loved. The mirror serves the dual purpose of reflecting an image of the viewer and what's behind...the road traveled. - winners list

Jacko Doesn't Play Album Guests?
BW*BK reports: The Classic Metal Show, recently conducted an interview with guitar legend Steve Stevens (ATOMIC PLAYBOYS, BILLY IDOL, VINCE NEIL). During the course of the interview, Stevens was asked about his short work he did with Michael Jackson when he recorded the solo for his 'Smooth Criminal' from the Bad release. The Classic Metal Show: Do you still get royalty checks for that? I imagine you do.
Stevens: "Actually, I don't. I never got paid for that. I didn't write the track. I came in and played on it. Then Eddie Van Halen and I did the NAMM show together in the next couple of days.

I asked him, 'hey man, what did you ask for on 'Beat It'?' He said, 'ah, man, the kind of publicity you get from that kind of stuff you can't put into financial terms.' So, I never made a penny off that." - more on this story
