Gary Reynolds and the Brides of Obscurity Week: Day 3 |
This is the drummer's favorite song. He's responsible for the overall direction. I wanted it to be more of a calypso beat. Thank God I didn't get my way. I really love to lay in bed half asleep. It's really not being lazy I come up with a lot of ideas in that state of mind. So I decided to write a song about staying home, playing hooky from work. My favorite line in the song is "I feel like cinnamon toast" which is a pun on feeling like sh*t or being hungry.
Now it's up to you to be the ultimate judge, go grab a listen to their songs and see if you agree that this is an exciting new indie release. Samples, tour dates and more about the band can be

Judge Rejects Nickelback DUI Defense |
His lawyer, Marvin Stern, argued an RCMP officer conducted an unlawful search when he asked Kroeger to blow into his face after detecting the smell of alcohol and that the evidence should be excluded.
Stern also argued the Mountie stayed far too long at the scene with Kroeger while arrangements were made to tow the Lamborghini and failed to obtain two further breath samples "as soon as practicable" as required by the Criminal Code. But provincial court Justice Peder Gulbrandsen disagreed, saying the obligation to obtain samples as soon as practicable does not mean they be obtained as soon as possible

The band features James Christian Shaffer ("Munky") on guitars and vocals; Billy Gould (Faith No More), bass; Wes Borland (Black Light Burns), guitars; Brooks Wackerman (Bad Religion, Tenacious D), drums and percussion; Leopold Ross, programming and guitars; Zach Baird, keyboards and programming. Famed producer Ross Robinson (Slipknot, KoRn) comments: "What can I do to ever come close to feeling James's level of pure ruthless courage through a guitar? Since I've worked with him, I've tried to inspire, convince, beg, bleed, cry, prod and nearly die, hoping to hit that bar with others. I'm grateful to know what 'it' is, and where it always existsin my brother, James. His solo band? Yes, please!"

Donut Guy Has EMI Looking Backwards |
By re-releasing material from artists such as David Bowie in new formats EMI hope they will be able to reconnect with the record buying public. The plans were unveiled by the newly appointed head of EMI's music catalogue, Stephen Alexander.
Alexander, who has previously held the top position at Odeon Cinemas and Dunkin' Donuts, said he was not sure that EMI's catalogue "has been given the level of focus and priority that it would be my contention it really warrants as a business." [considering that catalogue sales account for about half of all CD sales, this just might be something to focus on. Too bad it took a guy that use to sell donuts to figure that out.]
