Horse The Band Buck Their Record Deal
Lambgoat reports: Horse The Band has parted ways with Koch Records following a slightly tumultuous three year relationship.

Since Horse The Band had been somewhat profitable though, the group was moved over to the Koch Records roster. Since then, Koch's support for the band has reportedly been inconsistent and at times, problematic. - more on this story

Kulick On Not Being Asked To Rejoin KISS
Submitted reports: Guitarist Bruce Kulick was recently interviewed live onstage at the 22nd annual NY/NJ Kiss Expo by the mysterious Maul Stanley (a parody hybrid of Star Wars character Darth Maul and Kiss guitarist Paul Stanley). Part serious interview and part comedy roast, the exchange has been transcribed and is now available online. In the second half of this two-part feature, Bruce discusses his proposed Kiss makeup, the future of his band Union and how it differs from ESP (The Eric Singer Project), despite the fact that they share many of the same members.

Maul Stanley: Other than Vinnie Vincent, you are the only living member of Kiss never to have been asked to rejoin the band. They even dressed Eric Singer as Peter Criss and hired their tour manager to play Ace Frehley before giving you a call. Do you think they're trying to tell you something?

Bruce Kulick: Well, if you ask me, it totally made sense to have Tommy Thayer join the band. Tommy and I are friends and I understand the whole situation. It actually had more to do with Ace's dysfunction than who they should use to replace him. There were more than few nights when it wasn't clear whether or not Ace would be showing up for a gig. Naturally, it's very hard for a band to function like that. Since Tommy was already on the road with them, it just made sense to say, "Put on the outfit, we don't know if Ace is coming." Plus, Tommy is an excellent musician and he was great in his Kiss tribute band. So once Ace left for good, it just made sense to have Tommy replace him. - more on this story

Grand Magus Return with an Iron Will
PR reports: Swedish riff-lords Grand Magus return at last with Iron Will (Rise Above), another full-on metal assault that journeys beyond the course of their last outing, 2005's Wolf's Return.

Drawing hefty influence from the hand-on-heart grandeur of the NWOBHM and the inspirational mythology of their forbears, Grand Magus are steeped in pre-Christian tales of triumph, vengeance, betrayal, romance and death.

Backed by unrelenting riffs, atmospheric bass solos and soaring howls, Iron Will is the timeless sound of a plastic sword being snapped, an idiot being kicked in the face and the rich heritage of true steel reclaimed.

Dennis Rodman Sentenced for Spousal Battery
antiMusic reports: Before we get to the story, some regular readers may wonder why you are seeing some sports stories in the Day in Rock. The answer is this is a little taste of the antiSports Report which we hope to launch later this year. It will be very similar in nature to the Day in Rock but will feature the biggest stories in sports.

Right now if we are sent a sports related story, we're running it in the Day in Rock. So obviously these are of the more controversial nature. But the antiSports Report will be far more balanced. We'll also put out a call for contributors closer to the launch.

Now with all that said let's play ball! Here is the story from TMZ: Dennis Rodman pleaded "no contest" to spousal battery in an L.A. court this morning. In exchange for his plea, the Worm was sentenced to 36 months of probation, 45 days of roadside graffiti removal, one year of domestic violence counseling, and six months of drug and alcohol treatment. - more on this story
