Paper Rival Week: Day 1 "Dialog" |
"Cassandra" - This song is actually about my constant negativity and unwillingness to stay in one place. Most people think it's about a girl but "Cassandra" is actually the name of a nay sayer or prophet of doom in a lot of old Greek and Roman folklore.
The recording process for this was a lot different because none of us thought it would make the record right up until it was completely recorded.

R. Kelly Jurors Explain Verdict |
Five of the twelve jurors met with reporters immediately after handing down the acquittal. They said that as recently as this morning, the vote was split nine to three for a not guilty verdict, but that fell apart as they voted -- on the hour, every hour -- because the alleged victim hadn't testified and refused to cooperate.

R. Kelly Not Guilty, Be Your Own Pet Slam Warped, Lil Wayne Selling Huge Numbers, Winehouse Replaced? |

Leona Lewis is reportedly set to replace Amy Winehouse as the singer of the theme of the new James Bond movie. She is said to be in talks with the movie's producers to sing the theme for the 22nd Bond flick 'Quantum Of Solace'. more
Be Your Own Pet's frontwoman took a bit of a swipe at the Warped Tour and the bands that play it. Here it is: I just associate it with a certain look and a certain style and the kind of kids at school that I thought were-- this is really bad, I'm sure-- the kind of kids that were dumbasses wearing Rancid t-shirts who thought they knew what punk rock was and threw things at people in the cafeteria.
So it's like, okay, now we're going to be performing for these people. Our label is under the impression that we're going to play one date and then automatically sell 100,000 more records. All those bands have this very specific look and sound and style. It's like the new hair metal or something. There are like 10 different rules about how you write a song and what everything sounds like and looks like.

Stone Temple Pilots Respond To Lawsuit |
Despite the allegations in the complaint, the band never threatened anything more than remaining away from the studio until equitable terms could be arranged. The precipitous filing of this action is yet another example of the difficulties facing artists in the new music environment, as relationships between artists and their labels fall further and further apart.
Eric and Scott have not yet been served and hope that Atlantic will allow cooler heads to prevail, and have the courtesy of shelving this action to permit negotiations to continue in a positive spirit rather than under a dark cloud of hostility. Should everyone operate in good faith, STP are certain that a new album from the band will be available soon. Should Atlantic instead pursue this scorched earth policy towards the band, the ultimate victims will be STP's fans, who will never be able to enjoy a new album from the group.
