Recorded in 1993 and produced by Peter Wolf, Sisyphus became a cult record immediately after Warner Bros. refused to release it because it wasn't the Chicago record that was expected. Knowing what they had created and not willing to compromise, the band left Warner Bros. and took the album with them.

According to the band, "the last-minute cancellation comes as a result of the tour promoter's complete lack of adherence to contractual stipulations concerning PA, lights, backline equipment, visas, tour itineraries, travel arrangements and failure to make scheduled payments.

Each of the deluxe boxed set's CDs includes an original single's A and B-sides, plus other versions of most tracks, from additional mono and stereo mixes to live recordings. Eight previously unreleased mixes are among the new collection's 66 tracks.

In addition to premiering tracks from the album, which features exciting guest performances by Slash, country superstar Clint Black and Winter's brother, blues guitar great Johnny Winter, the singer and multi-instrumentalist will be interviewed by longtime Rockline host Bob Coburn. Coburn, a rock radio institution who was an on-air personality on Los Angeles' KLOS from 1980-1994, will also play what he calls "a frighteningly good version" of Winter's classic 'Frankenstein' that the artist performed live on the show several years ago.
