Bangkok Five Week: Day 2 "Party Machine" |
Here is Frost with today's song "Party Machine": Johnny Thunders said it best: "There's a little bit of whore in every little girl." Unfortunately for those of us looking for stability and true love in this life, there's a little bit of whore in us all.
This song is about complete and total abandon to the dark side. It's an angry, evil lash. We all have demons. This song is where I let mine loose. It's also most girls' (under the age of 21) favorite song. Go figure... (FYI: We are re-mixing the sh*t outta this one, look for it in clubs, if the DJ doesn't have it, hang him.)
The album hits stores next week but you can grab a taste right now, plus get the latest on the band and more

Dillinger Trash Disturbed Plan |
Disturbed's Dan Donegan fired back in an interview with MTV where he denied that the band poses, saying they only use some lighting cues but also said, If [DEP] sold some records, and were at the level we're at, maybe they'd see that, for bands like Kiss and Metallica, there are certain highlight points during a set that you want to focus on."
The Dillinger Escape Plan responded on Monday with the following blog post on their Myspace page: "The guitar player Dom Deluise or whatever his name is with the little-peen complex from that band Disturbia or whatever they're called thinks that we care about them. Old news, but still funny. 'My Ferrari is better than your Honda!!! Our stages come apart and travel with us and yours don't!!! We have thirty guitar techs and you have one!' Coooool self-esteem barometer, douche bag. Wait... What's that I hear? The sound of your band still sucking? Oh, right. Gotcha there, bud."
- The crack at Disturbed was only a small part of the blog post, they also made a ton of announcements.

StoneD Temple Pilot Tour Off To Rocky Start |
When Slash wakes up in a couple of hours and grabs The New York Times before enjoying his bagel (but after putting on slippers, a bath towel, and a snake), the description of Stone Temple Pilots' New York show will undoubtedly inspire a smirk.
"Scott Weiland, the lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots, had just a few words for the crowd at the PNC Bank Arts Center on Saturday night, and that was probably a good thing. Two weeks into this post-grunge band's reunion tour, he seemed bedraggled and bushed, like a scarecrow. His first comments were barely coherent, and what came next was dispiriting. 'Sometimes you make crazy choices,' he said, in a distinctly undefiant tone."

Diddy Harassing Website |
They fired off a letter telling them that the business' name was way too similar to his. Wait -- didn't he change his name to Diddy years ago? We hear the business gets its name from the owner of the company -- he's just a proud dad who sells cufflinks.
[Will he go after Godaddy.com next? Is he that much of a narcissist that he thinks people automatically think of them when they hear the word daddy? Sure cuff sounds like fluff, but where does this end? These site should be on the look out for Diddy's lawyers as they are more inline with the Puff N' Fluff Diddy's image: pimpdaddy.com, urbandaddy.com, and bootydaddy.com. That's just the first page of search results on Google. Maybe whoever owns the rights to "Puff the Magic Dragon" should threaten to sue Shiddy for soiling the poor creature's good name?]

As our wonderful Congress debates a "bi-partisan" bill that will raise the cost of gasoline at least $1.50 per gallon and hike up the cost of all forms of energy and goods in the U.S. (including food), and cost the U.S. thousands of jobs and 3 trillion in spending power, one company isn't waiting for that other shoe to drop as they can't afford to carry on under current conditions. Why is this music news? It's the U.S. company that manufactures CDs. Idolator has the story: The Handelman Company, which supplied Wal-Mart and other chains with CDs, is closing up its music-related operations in North America, resulting in 260 job losses in Indianapolis and Troy, Mich. more

Tori Amos Drops Epic |
Tori posted the following statement, about the split and her future, to her website:
This is an exciting time. There will be many ways in the present and in the future for artists to cross what has become the new unchartered Music Frontier. Ways that may seem impossible today but in a months time will seem probable. There are many ways to be involved in a structure. But what kind of structure will it be and what will be the make up of it's foundation? These are important questions, so important that I've been observing many different working templates in the music business for years now.
The key word here is the word "working." In some cases these structures do not work positively for some artists. Only for those who have designed the system to specifically "work" for the corporate few. Artists need not fear structure, we just have to design and partner with expansive ideas. It is time for us as artists to stop being dependent, dependent on any system that has become undependable. Only then can we help to create a new system that propagates and secures independence for each creator.

Albert Hammond, Jr. Preview |
The title, rung out of casual conversation between Albert and Matt over some vino tinto, hints at the classic, summery music held within. The record was recorded over 5 weeks at Electric Lady Studios and produced by Albert along with engineer Gus Oberg and drummer Romano.
"I'm really proud of the power this record has," says Albert. "I feel like my melodies and song arrangements have matured. Lyrically, I tried to have the words flow out more freely and not try to write one song but many. I would just sing and sing and then arrange the words afterwards."
Great White Slams Poison |
Yes, Bret Michaels, he's talking about you. Not only does Russell liken VH1's "Rock of Love" to "a car accident that you can't stop watching," but Michaels' name comes up again when we ask the 47-year-old about Great White's hair metal stigma.
"We might be labeled as hair metal, but Great White has always been just a blues, rock 'n' roll band," he explains, his voice heating up with conviction. "We were never the magazine cover darlings. It wasn't like, 'I'm Bret Michaels, I'm so good looking.' It was like, 'You know what? I'm tired of this weave stuff.'"
