Ernie Halter Week: Day 3 |
Ernie's new album "Starting Over" debuted on the top 25 of the iTunes rock charts earlier this month and with the physical CD hitting stores next week we asked Ernie to tell us a little bit about the songs. Here is Ernie with today's song:
Crazy Love: I also wrote this song for a girl. It's for that intoxication when people think you are crazy. I am half Cuban so I always make sure I have at least song one song on every album that has that Cuban rhythm. This rhythm reminds me of the Carnival. I have family in Cuba so when they hear that Cuban/Carnival rhythm I want them to know that it is for them.
Hearing is believing, so go grab a listen and learn more about Ernie and his new album right

Miley Cyrus Condoms? |
OK, maybe 'offered' is a strong word. Chances are that it actually just stuck a pin in the internet, found the least appropriate possible candidate for a condom spokeswoman and bashed out a quick press release that mentioned Miley Cyrus a lot in the cynical hope that bored bloggers would pick up on it because it's a quiet news day.
Well, it worked. Congratulations LifeStyles Condoms, it worked. Just don't expect Miley Cyrus to be so quick to bite, partly because she's too busy apologising for things we don't understand, but mostly because you haven't actually asked her yet have you? Idiots.

Just How Much Does A Band Make From A CD Sale? |
This was done because The Berzerker has fulfilled its contract with Earache Records and left the label to be "truly" independent. The new album is not even available in ANY retail stores.
Mainman Luke Kenny had this to say: "I'm f**king sick to death of fans NOT knowing where there money is going when they buy a CD, Steve (Albini) has the right idea, to expose this ---- once and for all. I mean, a percentage of your money is going to the f**king retarded bitch sitting behind the counter at the HMV/Tower, [or] wherever she is, on the phone painting her f**king nails and couldn't even tell you where the 'metal section' is if you asked her. So what if we sell less records being totally independent? At least NOW with Berzerker Industries, if people want to support us by NOT downloading our music, they can."

Dark Side of Chris Cornell on New CD |
Several song excerpts recently surfaced online and indicate a very different style for the vocalist. Cornell recorded the disc with famed urban pop producer Timbaland, and says the results surprised him.
"Tim lent a lot to what I describe as sort of the psychedelic aspect of this album, kind of a Pink Floyd or 'Dark Side of the Moon' or almost like a Queen 'Night at the Opera' type of a feel to me. That's something I never would have predicted.

It went on to be the best seller of that year's fourth quarter with less than three months of shelf life.
Debuting in the runner-up slot on the Billboard 200 is country duo Sugarland with the deluxe version of "Love on the Inside" (314,000). It's easily the Mercury Nashville act's best sales week and highest charting album ever. The band's previous high came when its last album, "Enjoy the Ride," debuted and peaked at No. 4 with 211,000

Get Warped with Ludo Day 1 |
Ludo finally has a bus! After hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of shows, we finally get to do a tour in a bus! Unbelievable. With our new tour manager, Randy, and our new merch guy, Byron, we left St. Louis late on the night of the 20th, slept as we rode through the night to Columbus, got up, saw The Dark Knight, slept as we rode through the night again to Bay Shore, New York, got up, toured the merchdirect facilities (where all our merch is made), had dinner with Steve Davis, and then slept as we rode through the night all the way to Mansfield, Massachusetts.
Our first day on Warped! Got our set time, Byron and Randy loaded in and set up merch, we did some radio interviews, then loaded in. We're on the Hurley.com Stage. In Mansfield, it was apparently one of two stages under the pavilion. Right before we played it began to pour rain, and probably 10,000 people piled into the shed to hide from the rain. Where they helplessly had to watch a Ludo show! Ha! Our sick plan worked. We played six songs as the pit flooded and kids down there went nutso. I immediately hopped offstage after the show, and cut straight to our merch tent, where we then hung out for the rest of the evening, meeting peoples and signing stuffs. Loaded out. Broke down merch. A few of us grabbed showers. They were freezing cold. We nestled snugly into our bunks and as we slumbered, we rolled toward Buffalo, New York.
