Best described as solid, mature pop-rock showered with sincerity and honesty, the band's debut full-length, Anhedonia, produced by Brian McTernan (Circa Survive, Senses Fail, and Thrice), is laced with bold rhythms interspersed with flourishing progressions and macabre beats that support the delicate beauty of the band's shimmering guitars.

Lenka Sets Solo Debut |
Lead single "The Show" goes to radio on July 29th. In characteristic Lenka fashion, the song takes a dour premise - that life is a show, and sometimes a pretty bad one - and delivers it with such aplomb that one can't help but grin as it erupts into a bold, brassy closing refrain of "I want my money back!" "I decided I should just get all my friends to come in and be like the drunken tavern chorus," explains Lenka. "Australian folk singer Missy Higgins joined in on the bit."
Other album highlights include the spine-tingling "Trouble Is A Friend," "Wrote Me Out," co-written (strangely) with AFI's Hunter Burgan, the seductive "Force of Nature," "Dangerous & Sweet" with Howie Day (stranger still) on guest vocals and the lullaby-like "Don't Let Me Fall," with strings conducted by composer/arranger David Campbell (otherwise known as Beck's father). Producer Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Jay Z) arranged for the session to take place in one of the historic Capitol Records studios. "It was just extraordinary, being in a studio with nine string players and David conducting," says Lenka, who wrote or co-wrote all of the album's songs and also plays piano, percussion, vibraphone and glockenspiel. "I'm normally in a grungy garage making my music."

Mendoza Line Members Resurface |
When Shannon McArdle left the Mendoza Line in 2007, she was also leaving behind a marriage to fellow member, Timothy Bracy. Along with a cast of contributors, the Mendoza Line recorded a remarkable body of work that wrestled with the intoxication of life and love on the edge of the new millennium. McArdle met Bracy in the late 1990s in Athens, Georgia and struck up a musical collaboration as well as romantic relationship. Along with an early incarnation of the Mendoza Line, the band made the move to New York City, establishing themselves as a rollicking, well-read rock band with a love for The Replacements, Bob Dylan, and the Velvet Underground.
After four albums with the group and another project with Bracy called Slow Dazzle, Shannon McArdle is heading out on her own with an unflinching report from the frontlines of divorce. Summer of the Whore is a unique, fearless view of her life from the summer of 2007, finally ready for delivery in the summer of 2008.
