More Classic Monterey Jazz Festival Performances Coming |
The MJFR label was founded in 2007 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Monterey Jazz Festival. It made its debut with a remarkable series of historic live-at-Monterey CDs, rolled out shortly before the September festival: Louis Armstrong & His All-Stars (recorded in '58), Miles Davis Quintet ('63), Thelonious Monk Quartet ('64), Dizzy Gillespie ('65) and Sarah Vaughan ('71).
In addition, MJFR issued a 50th-year compilation disc that included selections from the five albums as well as live Monterey material from Diana Krall, Joe Henderson, Dave Brubeck and Pat Metheny's trio with Larry Grenadier and Brian Blade.

Free Bun B Show |
Celebrating his recently released album "II Trill," Bun B will be returning to his home state of Texas to showcase his newly-christened material. Attendance is free for 21+ adults for the performance on a first come, first served basis starting at 10 p.m. on August 1.
Emerging from Port Arthur, Texas, as one-half of UGK (Underground Kingz) alongside the late Pimp C, Bun B has also made a name for himself as a hugely-successful solo artist in the hip-hop game. The three years between his debut solo album "Trill" and the present time have been turbulent for him but have provided inspiration for the wordplay featured on the highly-anticipated sequel "II Trill." Since Pimp C's death in 2007, Bun B's solo career has taken on an entirely new meaning, and the new album, along with his continued popularity, are a testament to the type of impact he continues to have on Dirty South music and beyond. Featuring guest shots from the likes of Lil Wayne, Sean Kingston and others, "II Trill" is a statement that Bun B is able to carry on the spirit of UGK despite the absence of his partner in rhyme.

Upsidedown Join Dandy Tour |
The album captures the group's live energy without sacrificing any of the subtleties developed in the studio, and songs like the West Coast-country tinged "Umbrella," which contrasts bassist Tristan T-bird Evans's breathy harmonies with frontman (and former member of The Bella Low) Jsun Atoms's deep, near-growling vocals. "Ernestine" finds guitarist/accordionist Matt Moore singing in his higher range over minor picked guitar chords, but both the title track and "Silver Wind" are catchy and upbeat, driven by hooks and handclaps and alternating vocals.
Beginning in Minneapolis on September 9 and ending October 5 in Portland, both bands (with added help from Darker My Love, and one-off appearances from A Place To Bury Strangers, The Charlatans, and fellow Beat-The-Worlders Monstrous) will bring their shows to their American and Canadian audiences, supporting their new albums. Now fully independent, The Dandy Warhols' release their sixth full-length, Earth To The Dandy Warhols, on August 19.

Brother Von Doom Announce Relentless Release |
The touchstones are theirgracefully nodding to the Scandinavians and Californians who birthed these soundsbut this is a more local brew, born amidst endless rehearsals in crummy mid-western basements but always meant for a large stage looming high above a battlefield somewhereIN THE FUTURE. As the great prophet Nathan Explosion once said, "Brutal".
The CD hits stores on October 14, 2008 but they are currently on Thrash and Burn Tour with Darkest Hour, Parkway Drive, Misery Signals, Winds Of Plague, Stick To Your Guns, Arsis, + more!
