Billy Morrison Week: Day 5 "Nailed" |
When we heard about this album finally being released, we fired off an email to ask Billy to give us the lowdown on some of his favorite tracks. A few hours later he came through in a big way. So here is Billy to discuss his favorite tracks from Stimulator!
NAILED: This is very easy song to explain. I think that everyone can identify with the feeling of having an argument with a loved one or a family member, or even a good friend, and just feeling like no matter what you say, you are being misunderstood. When no-one seems to be listening, when you are screaming at each other in a violent, destructive way and getting absolutely nowhere.....thats what this song is about. I love the way the track's chord structure is really simple, and the samples we used drive the song into a very emotional place. One of my favorites.
The CD is out now digitally on iTunes and limited edition hard copy CD is available exclusively from

When Winehouse Attacks |
Fox News has a lengthy report that includes tales of drug smoking in alleys, kissing random guys and the assaults in question. Here are some of the low points: Amy Winehouse was facing arrest Wednesday night after allegedly attacking two men while out on a reportedly drug-fueled bender, the Sun said.
Trouble allegedly began after Winehouse arrived with pals at a pub in Camden, North London. Once inside, she is said to have hit Moroccan musician Mustapha el Mounmi after he refused to give way to her at the pool table.... Another man tried to get her a cab, but she reportedly thought he was trying to molest her and allegedly butted him in the face.
- Read the entire sorted tale here which includes Amy proclaiming "I am a legend, get these people out. I want to take drugs.'"
MTV Staff Revolt? |
The lawsuit, which was filed today in Los Angeles Superior Court, claims the assistants typically put in more than eight hours a day, without meal breaks, yet were not paid overtime. Welcome to Hollywood!
For the days in which they worked on location, the assistants claim MTV provided them with already-completed and filled-out timesheets -- which reflected an eight-hour day -- even though on numerous occasions they worked much longer. Looks like the "real world" isn't just hot tubs and drunken hookups!
GNR Recording Reunion With Duff and Izzy |
Izzy site chopaway.com posted this quote from Duff early Friday morning, "I got to play on Izzy's new record yesterday in Ojai...another stellar outing by that dude I must say. Always a pleasure hanging with that guy, a true gentleman. Duff"
No word yet on when this album will be released, but maybe Izzy can talk his friends Axl, Slash, and Steven into coming over to play on it too? (No, weren't not starting a new rumor. Just saying that would be cool.)

J.Lo The Realty Show |
You've seen her suck in the movies, you've heard her suck on CD, and now you'll get to see her suck in her everyday life on your TV! All courtesy of The Learning Channel. We don't know what we are supposed to learn from this, but here is Heckerspray with some of the less scary details: TLC has announced that Jennifer Lopez will help produce, create, and star in what is being referred to as a 'docu-series' which will demonstrate Jennifer's ability to balance work, babies, and constantly keeping her husband away from direct sunlight and cloves of garlic. She's a busy gal. The series is already in production, but an air date has yet to be announced
We wish Jennifer Lopez and her family the best with this new endeavour. Everyone knows that the best thing for a celebrity's personal life is a reality show. Just ask Nick Lachey and his wife Jessica Simpson, or Carmen Electra and her husband Dave Navarro, or the drummer from Blink 182 and his wife, or any of the well adjusted kids from Laguna Beach and The Hills. Exploitation onward!

Starbucks Records Hoped For Venti Success But Only Got A Tall |
Starbucks whipped up a lot of excitement last June when they offered java fans a side of "Memory Almost Full," an album by a little known artist named Paul McCartney. The album debuted on the charts at No. 3 and the buzz was steaming that Starbucks' Hear Music might just revolutionize the music industry. The only problem is that when customers were offered music from musicians that didn't happen to be a key member of the biggest selling band in the history of universe, the customers opted to buy lattes instead. Maybe they thought they'd sell more coffee to customers if they put out a sleep inducing album from Kenny G? Here is the official PR word on this big change:
In its continuing efforts to transform the company and reduce costs, Starbucks today announced it is restructuring its entertainment business to focus on digital strategy and core content with music and books. As part of this restructuring, Starbucks will continue its relationship with the Concord Music Group and will turn over the day-to-day management of the Hear Music Record Label to Concord. By assuming responsibility for current and future Hear Music recording artists, Concord will leverage Starbucks curatorial voice to provide music offerings for customers that are fresh and unique.

Here is the company line on the album: Madonna's 11th studio album for Warner Bros. Records "HARD CANDY" is scheduled to have a global release on April 28th and a US release on April 29th.
"The title is a juxtaposition of tough and sweetnesskind of like I'm gonna kick your ass but it's going to make you feel good. And of course, I love candy" laughed the material girl.
- Listen here, no laughing allowed (unless you do it in a fake British accent)
My Bloody Patti Smith CD |
Here are some details from a Jambase.com report: The Coral Sea is Patti Smith's posthumous homage to her friend and photographer Robert Mapplethorpe and the title to her 1996 book. Kevin Shields accompanies her on guitars and effects and creates a haunting backdrop to the spoken prose.
The recordings were made June 22 2005 and September 12, 2006 respectively at sold-out performances at the QEH in London. The set will run almost two-hours with a different stylistic approach to each performance.
