ASHES dIVIDE Week: Day 4 "Denial Waits" |
Here is Billy with today's song "Denial Waits": I started writing that song with a different project in mind for a video game a few years back, and I thought about using it for that, but ended up pulling it back for this. I called Paz to come in and help me to write some stuff on this. It was a very different song in the beginning, and then it went away for a minute, I let it sit for a while, and then I came up with a chorus, and it just became a full-fledged different song and a big contender for the record. It was really nice collaborating with her on that, she wrote the initial baseline, the thing right on top of the song. Some of the lyrics, we were sitting down and trying to think, who is this about? What is this about? Again, these were emotionally charged things that were geared towards me. She was helping me flush some of those initial ideas out, so it was really good.

Fall Out Wedding: Wentz To Wed Ashlee |
Ashlee took to social networking site FriendsorEnemies.com on Wednesday to shout the news from the cyber rooftop. "We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best. Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged," Simpson wrote.
"Thank you for all of your support and well wishesit means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, and we wanted to be the first to tell you and to hear it straight from us."
Will this marriage made in pop heaven last? Or will there be a big tabloid friendly split in the future and they'll have to go to court to decide who gets to keep the eyeliner. At least they can have a lip-syncing contest at the reception.

Rappers Sued For Being Too Gangsta |
Before we continue, you must keep in mind that The Game was the same rapper who bestowed these pearls of "anti" gansta wisdom upon us, "Real gangstaz stand up, hold they d*ck / Bitch ----z sit down to piss, what type of ---- is you? / I'm the type to pack a gat or few / Pull out and pop, simply cause I'm mad at you... The kid roll with a greasy nine, come through and blast / I return shots like Arthur Ashe / You do the math, ten shots, ten dead bodies / F**k bein sorry, it ain't nuttin but a gangsta party." Hip-hopcrisy at it's finest.
Seems that 14-year-old "Henchman" Jr. blames Fiddy for a beatdown he suffered. E reports, "Per court documents filed Wednesday, James Rosemond claims he was jumped by G-unit rapper Yayo and three other men in March 2007 because he was wearing a Czar Entertainment T-shirtCzar being the management company that represents The Game, one of 50 Cent's sworn nemeses. And although Fiddy, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, wasn't at the scene, Rosemond and mother Cynthia Reed contend that the 'gangsta lifestyle' he promotes through his music and public image led to the assault....The attack on the younger Rosemond was intended to 'promote and maintain Yayo and 50 Cent's "gangsta' image,"' which has been 'promoted, marketed and advertised' by their record labels, the complaint states."

Weiland Says Velvet Revolver Disintegrated Really Badly |
Here is what he had to say, "This happened very organically. It wasn't people trying to angle and beg. It just happened the way it sort of happened. I got a call from Dean. I was on tour. He said, 'Man, are you sitting down?' I said 'Yeah.' He said, 'I was talking with our agent, and some offers came through.' We'd all been starting to talk more often. I had talked to Slash, mentioned it to him, and things were cool for a while.
"And this last tour, things just disintegrated really badly. I just came to the point where I decided that ... if I'm going to commit the next 10 years of my life to touring ... then I want to do it with people I want to make music with. People who I get inspired by making music with. ...I have to start weeding out stuff. It's kind of like going through your closet going, 'Eh, I don't need this anymore. It takes up too much space.' Certain things don't feel good, although it may put money in your bank account, but it doesn't feel good at the end of the day. It became one of those situations. This feels good, it feels right. It's always inspiring. It's always that high."

Fall Out Boy Not Cool Enough For The Roots |
Speaking to Billboard, drummer Ahmir Questlove said that the song was "sticking out like a sore thumb" on the album tracklisting.
The song had been due to open the new album, which the drummer described as their most political record to date. "Then we were going to have a 'halftime' thing where it was gonna come in the middle of the record as a break from the political thing, but that didn't work, either," Questlove continued. "Then we tried to make it the last song on the record, and that wasn't working. "

Billy Morrison's Stimulator Released At Last |
Back in 1998, Billy Morrison (The Cult, Circus Diablo, Camp Freddy), fronted U.K. rock band Stimulator with guitarist Terry Warville and drummer Jason Bowld (Pitchshifter). The band signed a large deal with Geffen Records in the U.S. and recorded their debut album in Los Angeles. Riding high on a wave of great press and even greater expectation, they could not have imagined that Geffen Records would be part of the first big music business merger (with Seagrams), and that their record would never be released.
10 years later, Billy now lives in Los Angeles, has played bass in THE CULT, formed CAMP FREDDY (with Dave Navarro, Donovan Leitch, Chris Chaney and Matt Sorum), CIRCUS DIABLO (with Billy Duffy, Ricky Warwick and Brett Scallions) acts, writes, hosts a radio showand has finally decided to release those masters as a Billy Morrison solo album.

"R.E.M. scores its highest sales and charting week in nearly 12 years with the Warner Bros. set "Accelerate," which debuts at No. 2 with 115,000.... Last week's chart-topper, Day26's self-titled Bad Boy effort, falls a whopping 73%."
In today's rap legal brief, Rapper Plies has been named in a lawsuit alleging negligence on his part, stemming from a 2006 shooting at a Gainesville, Fla., nightclub."

Gavin Rossdale WANDERBush Date Set |
"The wanderlust I'm talking about isn't that desire to travel and see the world, Rossdale explains with a grin. "It's my overwhelming desire to get out and play music for people. I feel like a racehorse that's been stuck in the stables a bit too long. The doors are locked and no one can find the key -- worse I'm not sure who's looking for it." With WANDERlust, the doors - and the floodgates - seem wide open and the result is the most mature, sensual, honest and compelling work of Rossdale's life in music.
After years spent at the top of rock's grungy heap -- and then a couple more in a peculiar sort of high-profile musical wilderness -- Rossdale has brought it all back home on a vivid, widescreen rock album that found him working closely with famed producer Bob Rock. Now that WANDERlust is finally completed, Rossdale can hardly wait to get back on the road. "This album is my way of saying `Let me out,'" Rossdale says. "I'd love to take my family with me, but I do have a burning desire to go out and play for people again. I've felt too corralled for too long so this deep sort of wanderlust has set in."

Hatebreed Ditch Mallcore Records for Koch |
Frontman Jamey Jasta had this say about the new deal, "The band and I had set out to find an aggressive forward thinking marketing and creative team to release the first-ever Hatebreed live DVD experience, a live album, and a cool unique covers record project and teaming up with KOCH Records is a perfect fit." Jasta explains "There are other important projects that we are planning to partner with KOCH Records to release. They are a smart company with a dedicated staff and I speak for the whole band when I say that KOCH just gets it and aren't afraid to take risks and work their asses off. We are excited to start working together"
In other Hatebreed news, Jgermeister Music and Hatebreed have partnered up for the next installment of the Jgermeister Music Tour and will hit the road with good friends, Type O Negative for a co-headline bill with special guests, 3 Inches of Blood.

Korny Live DVD |
Between the onstage mayhem resulting in a wild melee of organized chaos and the demonstrative, vociferous crowd going certifiably nuts for Korn's performance, a rare metal transcendence emerged, almost surrealistic in scope. This is a performance for the ages, one which includes surprising and effective covers of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall" and Metallica's "One."
This innovative California band was solvent for its first 12 years and six albums before guitarist Welch disavowed the band, the scene and even the music when he shockingly left to devote himself to Christianity only months after this concert was filmed. When drummer Silveria followed shortly thereafter on a "temporary hiatus" to devote himself to his family and his burgeoning restaurant business, the three remaining original memberssinger Davis, guitarist Shaffer and bassist Arvizuvowed never to permanently replace them. They have remained true to their word ever since, carrying on with a revolving cast of touring and studio musicians.
