Burn the Midnight Oil Again |
Underscoring Midnight Oil's activist core was the commitment of its lead singer Peter Garrett who first campaigned for the Australian Senate on a Nuclear Disarmament Party ticket in 1984, while still in the band (losing only by the slimmest margin). Today, six years after amicably departing Midnight Oil in 2002, Garrett's dedication is strong as ever, as Australia's Minister for Environment, Heritage and Arts.
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the U.S. chart debut of DIESEL AND DUST in 1988, an expanded edition of the album will now contain the long-lost 11th track "Gunbarrel Highway" (banned from North American editions of the album because of the lyric "---- falls like rain on a land that is brown"), coupled with a bonus DVD of the one-hour 1987 Blackfella/Whitefella Tour documentary its first appearance on commercial home video (with bonus clips of "The Dead Heart" and "Beds Are Burning"). Newly remastered for the first time in two decades, and complete with band member Rob Hirst's original liner notes, the new package will arrive in stores May 6th on Columbia/Legacy.

Sound And Fury Bamboozled |
"I've had a lot of crazy experiences and rowdy times," recalls SOUND AND FURY singer/songwriter, Luke Metcalf. "I mainly write about when I was in high school and then afterward, when I was living homeless with the gutter punks in California."
"Right from the start I knew exactly what I wanted when I wrote the music and lyrics for this album," continues Metcalf. "I wanted to make a killer rock album to party your ass off to...an album to let loose, leave all the bulls**t behind and run wild to. When I hit high school I went totally out of control. It was just a rampage of crazy partying.
At the time, I was incredibly pissed off and f**ked up because I was dealing with a lot of really harsh s**t...but I decided: "f**k it all...I'm gonna have some f**king fun"... and I managed to have a hell of a lot of fun. I made some really great friends and had some really wild times and this is what the album is all about."

Low Vs. Diamond The Next Big Thing? |
An uncompromising powerful record full of cinematic tracks, LOW VS. DIAMOND will be available via iTunes beginning April 1st. Low Vs. Diamond has created an album full of romantic songs that build to stadium worthy choruses and soar with nostalgic sounding chords that grab you instantly. With its undeniable melodies and chugging backbeats, The Los Angeles Times applauded the band for "standing precipitously between overwrought melancholy and chimey hopefulness, avoiding both excesses the band's music plays to an optimism that stops short of outright glee."
