Invitro Week: king |
The lyrical content in king is often viewed as nothing other than word play. Some of the lyrical choices are light hearted and humorous, referring to don king, burger king and the lion king, but underneath the message of the song is that we need to perhaps think of who we're choosing as our leaders and influences in life. This wasn't an attempt to be political or sanctimonious, but rather a personal reminder think about what I wanted to bring to the world with the opportunities I've been given...and I wanted to write amusing lyrics.

Jacko Weds Nanny? |
The National Enquirer reports thats the self proclaimed King of Pop filed a legal document in the US that states he married his children's nanny Grace Rwaramba. Apparently it all went down at an ubber secret cerimony that not even the Illuminati were aware of. And apparently neither was Jackson.
Jackson's spin doctor told E! in a statement that "Wide spreading reports regarding Michael Jackson being married are not true. Documents stating otherwise are a hoax." This now opens up a new mystery. Where did the document come from? Dan Rather? Mark Hoffman? Clifford Irving? We probably will never know but our money is that they came from Batboy who reportedly has became rather jealous of Rwaramba. With all the rumors aside, Jackson did receive an honor recently.- You can see that here.
Crock Hall Nominees |
Out of that bunch five inductees will be announced in January and the incredibly un-rock n roll induction ceremony will take place on March 10, 2008. Here is the official press release (with a little of the BS taken out): The nominations for 2008 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced today. The nine nominees are: Afrika Bambaataa, Beastie Boys, Chic, Leonard Cohen, The Dave Clark Five, Madonna, John Mellencamp, Donna Summer and The Ventures. Ballots with these nominees will be sent to over 500 "voters" who will choose the acts for inclusion into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for this year. Five new inductees will be honored at the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on March 10, 2008 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.- more on this story
Kanye Just Like Jesus, Gandhi, Martin Luther King |
Kanye's mother told the Baltimore Sun, "I do think that Kanye is a voice that can definitely be used and should be used not only in hip-hop but across the arts, period. I think he is broader than a genre... I think he has a calling to reach a number of people. Kanye keeps it real. He touches the people.... You never know how words can save a person's life, physically or otherwise. People like Martin Luther King or Mahatma Gandhi or, in my view, Barack Obama, or Jesus Christ - people whose job it is to tell the truth - I see that in Kanye."
That's right Kanye's enlightening truth such as "You could be my black Kate Moss tonight / Play secretary, I'm the boss tonight. / And you don't give a f**k what they all say, right? / Awesome, the Christian in Christian Dior" has been compared to Martin Luther King's dream and Jesus' sermon on the mount. Of course this came from his mother but she believes it as this final quote tells us, "Now, people like you are gonna go, 'Oh, Kanye's mom said he's like Jesus!' but when you have a gift, you didn't get it by yourself. Your truth is your truth."
If only we were all given the gift of being able to rhyme tonight with tonight, then we could change the world! He's still no John Lennon. - See Gigwise for the context of the quote as we were having too much fun to include it.

Complete Clapton Preview |
Clapton's career has endured for more than 40 years, resulting in 18 Grammy Awards and he has earned the distinct honor of being the only triple inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Considered one of the world's finest guitarists, Clapton was a member of such seminal rock bands as Cream and Blind Faith, both featured on the album.
He also created countless hits as part of his solo career beginning in 1970 with the release of the self-titled Eric Clapton album following through to 2005's Back Home. Complete Clapton also features songs from two co-produced albums, Riding With the King, a collaboration with iconic blues man BB King, and The Road To Escondido, a partnership with long time friend and guitar great J.J. Cale.- Grab a preview here

Hagar Calls Van Halen Reunion The Right Thing |
HAGAR: I don't know, when you say Van Halen here, what you're really talking about is Eddie. Alex sticks by him because that's his brother, and I love Alex for it. I would never try to come between those guys. Those guys are brothers, and they are the end of a line in a way. Their parents have passed, and it's tough. Mine have too, but I've got other brothers and sisters and uncles, but they are pretty alone. They are very close, and I think that's awesome, but I think it's Eddie that makes those kinds of decisions.
In the old days, it wasn't like Eddie was going, "it's my band this is what I want!" When I was in the band, it was our band, and everyone did what they wanted. For the good of Van Halen, I wasn't looking to be a solo artist, and Eddie wasn't looking to control everything. Instead, everyone did whatever they wanted to do in that band and it worked. When it stopped working, it broke up. Since then, its like Eddie says, "this is my band," and it is, so he can do whatever he wants, but I think if they wouldn't have got Dave back, they would have been in trouble. The only thing I can say that may sound like sour grapes is that without Dave or myself, Van Halen isn't going to be the big, mighty arena act, and that's all there is to it. If he wants to go out there and just be an instrumentalist and just get whatever singer he feels like, he's gonna be down here doing what I'm doing playing theaters in most cities and be lucky if he's selling them out. For him to keep rolling with the mighty Van Halen, he needs either Dave or myself. They've been trying to get with Dave, since they threw me out in 95'. Then, they hadn't done anything until I came back. Now, they have Dave again, and I wish them the best because I think it's their only hope. It's the right thing.- Read the full interview here
