Silverchair Week: Reflections Of A Sound and If You Keep Losing Sleep |
Reflections Of A Sound: This is a song that only existed as a chorus for more than 12 months. It was one of the last songs completed for Young Modern. It's one of the simplest and literal lyrics on the record. Something that I set out to accomplish.
If You Keep Losing Sleep: This song was written during a 3-week period where I wrote more than 20 songs about insomnia. This was probably the first song written for Young Modern, and was the catalyst for the rest of the record.- Preview tracks from the CD, get tour dates and more here
Zeppelin Reunite |
The event will take place at the O2 Arena in London on November 26 and aside from Led Zeppelin, The Who's Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini have all signed on to perform and promoter Harvey Goldsmith hinted during the press conference that the show may see another reunion, this one with Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger and former Stones member Bill Wyman.
In all the hoopla surrounding this event, organizers and the band aimed to keep the focus on why it is taking place- Ahmet Ertegun. Profits from the event will go the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund. And his widow Mica gave the event her seal of approval, "He would be very proud that Led Zeppelin have chosen to re-unite and headline a benefit concert in his name featuring so many of his friends."- more additional info then you can handle
Kanye Beating 50 Cent |
We used to have wait a week to see how new releases are selling but no more with SoundScan's recent launch of "Building Charts" which charts sales from some of the leading retailers.
So how did each one do on the first day? Kanye logged 437,000 sales for his new one "Graduation," and Fiddy's "Curtis" sold 310,000 copies. If the trend continues West will easily top the Billboard chart next week. - more on this story
Anxiety Kills White Stripes Tour |
The band issued a simple and to the point statement about the last minute cancellation, "Meg White is suffering from acute anxiety and is unable to travel at this time. The White Stripes sincerely apologize to their fans. 'We hate to let people down and are very sorry.' Fans can obtain refunds for their tickets at point of purchase."
The band was supposed to tour behind their latest effort, the much hyped "Icky Thump" which dropped seven spots this week on the Billboard charts to No 51 after 11 weeks on the chart. This is just a couple spots ahead of Kelly Clarkson who was forced to cancel a tour earlier this year due to lack of interest. - more on this story
Mastodon Injury at VMAs |
The band's camp is keeping a tight lip about what actually went down. MTV spoke with their manger Nick John who wouldn't provide many details about how Hinds was injured but did tell them that he also suffered a broken nose and two black eyes during the mysterious incident that took place around 3 a.m. Monday morning after the band performed with the Josh Homme at the VMAs.
We can probably discount rumors that Britney sat on him.- more on this story
Foo Fighters Book Dates, Bring Real Music To VMAs |
This Saturday the band will appear at the KROQ LA Invasion The Home Depot Center in the Los Angeles burbs. The new live dates are: 10/2 New Orleans, LA House of Blues * 10/4 Atlanta, GA Tabernacle * 10/6 Atlantic City, NJ Borgata. A full tour can't be far behind can it?
With all the crap on MTV it was rather surprising that the network invited the Foo Fighters to perform on Sunday at the VMAs, but perform they did and ironically showed why all of the nominated "artists" are sorely lacking. And they didn't do it alone, they were joined by System of a Down's Serj Tankian, Mastodon, Josh Homme & Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens of the Stone Age and Cee- Lo (with a great cover of Prince's "Darling Nikki"). You can watch it in it's entirety right- here
Serj Tankian Solo Tour |
The North American tour will kick off on October 12th at the Vic Theatre in Chicago with stops in Toronto, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and concluding in San Francisco.
From there he'll hope over the pond and provide support for the Foo Fighters on their European tour which kicks off on November 3rd in Manchester and will make stops in Newcastle, Birmingham, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Sheffield, Cardiff, Nottingham, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and concludes on November 27th in Cologne, Germany. - you want the dates, don't you?
Tommy Lee is Motley Thru with Motley Crue |
Here is Metal Underground with the report: According to the amended complaint filed by Motley Crue against artist manager Carl Stubner and his three companies Sanctuary Group, Inc., Sanctuary Artist Management, Inc. and Carl Stubner Productions, Inc., drummer Tommy Lee "recently informed [bassist Nikki] Sixx and [guitarist Mick] Mars, the shareholders of MCI [Motley Crue, Inc.], that he was resigning from the band and his resignation was accepted."
According to a press release issued by Motley Crue earlier today, "Even though he received approximately a million dollars in commissions from Motley Crue, Stubner used his positions as the band's manager and the manager of one of the band members to demand a higher commission for himself. The amended complaint contends that his motivation was pure greed. The new evidence also confirms that Stubner demanded tickets from the band that he resold at 'scalper' prices for his own gain."- more on this story
R.Kelly Stole Jacko Song |
The song was "You Are Not Alone" which R.Kelly reportedly wrote for Jackson in 1995. A Brussels court has award the rights to the track to Belgian twins, Eddy and Danny Van Passel, after finding that the song was "largely similar" to one they had written previously, according to Contact Music.
Contact Music further reports: In a court
document investigating the plagiarism case, it states: "The largest part
of the melody is identical. There is a strong similarity." You Are Not
Alone was released in August 1995 and became the first ever single to debut
at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Ramones Manager Sues Gay Rag |
Danny Fields filed the defamation suit against Out magazine in New York's Manhattan Supreme Court earlier this month (Sep07). The 65-year-old claims his career has been damaged beyond repair by the false allegations, which imply he bribed underage fans to have sex with him in exchange for meeting their idols.
The lifestyle magazine quotes Fields, who is openly homosexual, as saying: "I don't remember ever being inhibited by saying, 'I'm the manager of the band. If you want to meet them, come to my hotel room and sleep with me, and I'll introduce you to them in the morning.'" But Fields - who was an influential figure in New York's 1970s punk rock scene - denies ever saying this.- more on this story
Britney's Shoe To Blame for VMA Bomb? |
Hecklerspray reports: So far the reasons for Britney Spears' stumbling around the stage at the MTV VMAs like an especially confused Rohypnol test subject have included a)Britney Spears being way too into her frozen margaritas to rehearse her routine properly, b) Britney Spears being terrified by her post-performance treatment at the hands of Sarah Silverman, and c) Britney Spears just being a bit crap. But now someone with way too much time on their hands has discovered the real reason why Britney Spears was such a hopeless mess at the MTV VMAs - it was d) her shoes.
According to this YouTube video, the reason why Britney Spears was wobbling around the stage like a one-legged pirate on rollerblades was because one of her shoes' heels broke right at the start of the MTV VMA performance. We know this because the video shows it time after time after time. And then points an arrow at it. - Read more and watch the video proof.

Those Damn Kids Won't Stop Buying CDs |
Fergie jumped up to No. 2 with her album "The Dutchess," an impressive accomplishment considering the album came out just under a year ago. The Black Eyed Peas singer landed the spot with sales of 49,000 units last week.
Last week was not a big week for new releases, most saved the 9/11 anniversary for that. But Chiodos new album "Bone Palace Ballet" debuted in the Top 10 with sales of 39,000 copies landing them firmly at No 5- more on this story
