Silverchair Week: Waiting All Day
antiMusic reports: Silverchair has returned with a new studio album, "Young Modern." An album that helped them set a record for the most No. 1 albums by any band in their native Australia. (This one makes it their fifth, beating the old record they shared with Midnight Oil).

The band is in the midst of a sold out tour Down Under (they'll be back Stateside in Nov) and we asked frontman Daniel Johns to pick some of his favorite tracks from the new album and tell us a little bit about them. Here he is with today's song "Waiting All Day ".

I wanted to write a track like Roy Orbison or something like that. A classic, old, timeless song with no tricks - a classic structure. I wrote the music with Julian Hamilton from The Presets. I really love what he does as a songwriter. We worked on the song together.- Preview tracks from the CD, get tour dates and more her

Outlaws / Skynyrd Legend Dies
antiMusic reports: Outlaws founder and one time Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Hughie Thomasson passed away Sunday night at his home in Brooksville, Fla. "He went out to dinner with his wife Mary on Sunday (Sept. 9), went home, got comfortable in his favorite chair to watch football and then passed away from a heart attack during a nap," according to CMT.

Lynyrd Skynyrd issued a statement on their website "With our deepest sympathy we have lost another one of our brothers to the rock and roll heaven. We had many a good time writing and playing with Hughie and spent many miles on the road together. God bless his family and all the fans that love Hughie for his playing and singing. Out hearts and prayers go out to his family. He will be truly missed. Fly on Free Bird."

Thomasson was a founder of the legendary southern rock band The Outlaws and stayed with the band through several lineup changes, breakups and reformations. During their career they produced 13 albums and amassed a loyal following. Following one of their breakups, Thomasson joined Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1996 and stay with them up until the 2005 reunion of the Outlaws.- more on this story

Zeppelin Reunion Conference Today
antiMusic reports: Today is the day. Led Zeppelin are expected to announce a one-off reunion show during a London press conference at 4pm BST. While there is a very little information about said conference except hearsay, many in the UK press believe that it is being called to confirm that the legendary group will in fact reform for a concert in late November at the new 02 Arena.

NME.COM reports that that "the show will be held at O2, possibly on November 26, and is a charity gig being organized by legendary promoter Harvey Goldsmith." The band split when drummer John Bonham passed away and according to Dot Music it has been John Paul Jones that has held back on reformations under the Led Zeppelin name in the past.

They report: "Bass player John Paul Jones retained a twenty five percent ownership of the name and up until now has refused to let the band reform. The other quarter is owned by drummer John Bonham's son, Jason and all four will make up the band."- more on this story

Trick Daddy Arrested
antiMusic reports: Say what you will about rapper Trick Daddy, but he does live his lyrics. He was arrested at a Miami strip club on Tuesday morning and charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest following a fight at the club.

Maybe he was just "f**kin' around" like in his famed song where he raps "slap that bitch on the third / ---- done caught wit a slurr / Cant see sh*t but a blurr" but police were called out to Tootsie's Cabaret shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday. When police arrived they report that the rapper, real name Maurice Young, smelled of alcohol and they found him cursing and "threatening staff at the club," according to the police report.

Police asked the rapper to leave the building, he refused and according tot he police report when the police asked him "to put his hands behind his back, he refused and started moving his arms around not to be handcuffed", thus the resisting arrest charge.- more on this story

PR reports: Disappointing news today as Kaiser Chiefs cancel their upcoming US tour, citing the need to focus on new material. The band will still perform shows in Austin and New York, but the rest of the dates are now cancelled. Kaisers drummer Nick Hodgson issued the following statement:

"We'd like to apologize to fans in America and Canada, especially those who have already bought tickets, but something had to give. We've been extremely busy all year and had no time to focus on the future, we plan to have new material out as soon as possible and we've wanted to record all summer.

"This needs to happen before our European & UK shows at the end of the year so we can play a few of our new songs live, we're keen to explore new ground, beyond the sound of our first two records, so we're headed back into the studio to begin that process."- more on this story

Meshuggah Officially Cancel Tour
antiMusic reports: Meshuggah confirmed what fans had already known, they have cancelled their European tour with the Dillinger Escape Plan which was set to take place in November. The reason they give is that they need to spend a little extra time in the studio to complete their new album.

Here is the message they posted on their website: We regrettably have to inform you that we have been forced to pull out of the November Euro tour with The Dillinger Escape Plan. There are several reasons for this. The main one being the fact that the album recording has taken longer than what was originally planned. As an effect of that - NB has moved the album release to Jan/Feb of 2008.

In light of this we choose to not do a tour that could compromise the outcome of the album as well as possibly delaying the release even more.- more on this story
