The Weirdos Destroy All Music Again |
Also included in this special release is The Weirdos first demos, released here for the first time. Although some of these tracks have appeared on various compilations before, they have never been released together in their original form. "Destroy All Music" has been remastered and includes 12-page liner notes penned by long time Weirdo, guitarist/bassist Cliff Roman, as well as cool photos and graphics.
In many ways the greatest of Los Angeles' punk bands, The Weirdos formed in 1977 with brothers John (vocals) and Dix Denney (guitar) recruiting Cliff Roman (bass) and Nickey Beat (drums) to round out the bands' lineup. In early 1977 their mighty sound and singular style were the big-bang igniting the L.A. punk rock scene, as they proclaimed "we're not punks, we're weirdos from Hollyweird!" This wasn't just goofy sloganeering, this was a stance intended to distinguish them from the burgeoning punk rock scenes in New York and London.

Ticketmaster Win Computer Scalper Case |
The Order issued today by Judge Audrey B. Collins also bars RMG Technologies, Inc., of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from using information gained from access of Ticketmaster's website to create computer programs designed to circumvent Ticketmaster's copy protection and Web site regulation systems. RMG's software allows its clients to buy tickets from Ticketmaster faster than Ticketmaster's human customers can. RMG's clients are ticket brokers or suppliers to ticket brokers who use RMG's software to buy tickets they can resell to the public at higher prices. Such actions have blocked consumers from getting those tickets at the "face" price shown on the ticket. [That statement is more than a tad disingenuous as you can't get tickets at face value from Ticketmaster.com. For example two $49.50 Van Halen tickets came to $127.10 after all of the "fees". That works out to $28.10 over the "face" price for the "convenience" of buying from Ticketmaster. -ed]
Ticketmaster hailed Judge Collins' ruling as a major victory for the ticketing company and for consumers. Ticketmaster President and CEO Sean Moriarty commented after the ruling, "Ticketmaster is committed to ensuring that consumers have fair and equitable access to tickets.- more on this story

Apes To Play Ghost Games in Feb |
When Apes' former singer, Paul Weil, left the band in 2005 to start a family after six years, three EPs, three full-length albums, and hundreds of legendary live shows, Apes found themselves scrambling for a replacement. Bassist Erick Jackson and keyboardist Amanda Kleinman met fellow visual artist Breck Brunson at a party in their hometown of Washington, DC, and - on nothing more than a hunch - asked him to come out to drummer Jeff Schmid's house the very next day to play music.
By the end of that first jam session, Apes knew they had found their man. Always an eclectic group - coming from varied musical backgrounds and tastes ranging from 60's and 70's rock, pop and psych to 80's hardcore to Providence noise to reggae to hip-hop - Apes found a singer with a similarly wide range of music interests, along with the vocal flexibility and willingness to experiment in order to make it all work. Furthering the mind-meld, Breck shared Apes' strong conviction that a powerful visual aesthetic, far from being an after-thought to the music, should inspire its creation and support its performance. Fans were treated to the new line up when Apes opened for Liars with seven brand new songs, during the summer of 2006.
Check out the first single from the CD
"Beat of the Double," which can be heard streaming at
