John Doe Taps Dead Rock West

PR reports: Dead Rock West has just been confirmed on a national summer tour kicking off on June 15th in Portland, Oregon with indie rock god John Doe. The band will be performing double duty, opening the set as Dead Rock West in support of their new, critically acclaimed debut album Honey and Salt, as well as sitting in with Doe as his back up band. The tour will continue across the US in a 35-city tour ending in mid August 2007.

Dead Rock West's sound has been described as "the jagged edge of country rock that brought such acclaim to Los Angeles legends X in the '80s," by the Houston Chronicle. Campus Circle calls it the "true evocative sound where John Doe and Exene Cervenka from X meet Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris." Telsa Announce Home Town Preview Show

PR reports: As previously announced, TESLA will launch a summer U.S. headlining tour starting June 7 in Santa Rosa, CA at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts in support of their REAL TO REEL album, which is due out June 5 on the band's Tesla Electric Company Recordings (Ryko Distribution). This marks the 20th consecutive year that TESLA has toured the States.

Before the tour officially kicks off, TESLA will make a special hometown appearance at Cesar Chavez Park in Sacramento, CA on May 31 at 7:00pm PT in front an expected crowd of 8,000. Not only will the show, sponsored by KXRQ-FM (98 Rock) and the Hard Rock Café, be FREE, but everyone in attendance will get a special pre-release sneak peek at REAL TO REEL. The one-hour performance will exclusively spotlight songs from "Reel 1" of the two-disc set, which will be sold that day at the new R5 store founded by Russ Solomon, the man behind the now defunct Tower Records chain. THC Smokin Debut

PR reports: "LIFE, LOVE, LUST, DEATH, PARTYING. No metaphors, just things worth talking about," says John "JB" Brown, lead singer of South Jersey's The High Court (THC anyone?). Such a bold statement certainly applies to the band's young career. In just over a year, The High Court has wholeheartedly dedicated themselves to their music. They have proven themselves a worthy adversary of any challenges with Puppet Strings, their debut release that hits stores on July 24th, 2007, on I Surrender Records.

After touring together in a variety of metal bands, guitarist Lou Cuello, drummer Denny Carvell, and bassist Kyle "Shell" Shellhammer wished to return to their rock roots. In desperate need of a lead singer, the trio sought unconventional help by placing an ad on Craigslist. Their only response came from JB, simply stating, "Ill sing my ass off." With rhythm guitarist Mike Matranga added to the lineup, The High Court was complete. Bernett's New Gig

PR reports: Longtime manager Tim Bernett has established Deep Blue Arts, a new company devoted to artist management, film music supervision and consultation. The initial management roster features Richard Thompson, Jill Sobule and Catie Curtis. 

In addition to management, Bernett is handling music supervision and soundtrack album production for the forthcoming John Sayles film Honeydripper, due for release later this year. Music Nation Continues

PR reports: This summer, based on the success of this spring's Music Nation competition, Epic Records and Original Signal Recordings are offering up two more recording contracts. Two 12-week contests will kick off at www.musicnation.com on June 13th, and at the end of the competition, both a rock and hip-hop act will score major recording contracts, among other prizes.

Octavia Sperati Preview

PR reports: Terrorizer Magazine voted this Bergen-based band one of its "Top 10 Newcomer Acts" of 2005 with the release of their debut, Winter Enclosure. Returning with Grace Submerged, Octavia Sperati look to push forward their doom/gothic blended metal expanding an already loyal worldwide fanbase. With "Guilty Am I" already included on several prerelease samplers and talks already ongoing for the band's first American tour the album is a year-long developmental priority for Candlelight.

Formed in 2000 Octavia Sperati have honed their skills performing/touring with the likes of Enslaved, Cathedral, Cradle of Filth, and Paradise Lost. The second album from growing Norwegian metal band was produced by Herbrand Larsen and Arve Isdal (Enslaved/Audrey Horne) and features guest appearance from Morfeus (Limbonic Art).

The album will feature material from current/former members of Exodus, Dangerous Toys, Skid Row, Jetboy, Salty Dog, Watchtower, Saigon Kick, Black Sabbath, Dio, Axis, and others.
