Parsons in the Country Hall |
PR reports: Gram Parsons was among the first,
if not the first, musician to bridge the gap between country and rock,
inspiring the country-rock, calling it Cosmic American Music, movement
that influenced pivotal bands like The Band, The Byrds, and The Rolling
Stones. Gram's music continues to have a global influence many musicians
of today including: Norah Jones, Elvis Costello, Wilco, Neko Case, Son
Volt, My Morning Jacket, Kings of Leon, The Thrills and Lucinda Williams
(among countless others). An integral part of the first ever country-rock
album, Sweetheart of the Rodeo by The Byrds, one cannot deny the influence
he has had on country music. To deny his induction in the Country Hall
of Fame would be to deny country-rock as a subgenre of country. This would
cut out bands like Johnny Cash (1980), Willie Nelson (1998), and even "The
King of Rock and Roll" himself, Elvis Presley (1998). The Hall of Fame
states, "Country music changes daily, but it always remains, as Willie
Nelson said, a place where "people tell their life stories." Gram definitely
told his.
Gram Parsons is even mentioned on the Country
Music Hall of Fame's website in the History of Country Music section. They
should do the right thing and induct him. Now is your chance to get him
the recognition he deserves! Go to the petition signature page below so
that he can finally be acknowledged for his significant contribution to
country music. His induction is long overdue, and YOU can make it a reality!

Madina
Lake Tour Plans |
PR reports: Trucking through the U.S. with
blazing conviction, pop-rock faction Madina Lake is enjoying the success
of their first headlining tour. Heading a lineup that includes like-minded
melodic rock kinsman Emanuel, Madina Lake has established their place in
the modern rock landscape. Having toured with acts such as The Red Jumpsuit
Apparatus, Cute Is What We Aim For and Paramore, the band was ready to
break out on their own. "Our headlining tour has been such a fantastic
surprise so far, the first 3 shows have sold out," bassist Matthew Leone
reflects. "We have the opportunity to chew into the record a little deeper
and we've discovered that our audience knows every word, even the more
obscure songs." The headlining tour will conclude June 22, after which
the band will be playing the Day on the Meadow Festival on July 3rd in
San Jose, California.
With no intentions of slowing down, Madina
Lake will also be taking on a supporting slot on this year's Projekt Revolution
Tour. The Projekt Revolution Tour is the brainchild of Linkin Park, and
will be launching its fourth year in existence. This year's tour will feature
main stage acts such as Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday,
HIM, and Placebo. Madina Lake will be playing the Revolution Stage alongside
diverse acts such as Mindless Self Indulgence, Saosin, The Bled and Styles
of Beyond.[see full story for tour dates]- Click

Burning
Brides Line Up Free Shows in LA |
PR reports: To celebrate the June 19 release
of their new album "Hang Love," The Burning Brides will bring their scorching,
post-grunge-groove-metal/rock to Los Angeles for a series of free shows
every Monday night in June at The Echo. For this entire June residency,
the Brides - Dimitri Coats (guitars, vocals), Melanie Coats (bass), Pete
Beeman (drums) - will be joined onstage by Urge Overkill guitarist, Nash
Kato. Showtime for all four Monday nights will be 9:00PM.
"Hang Love," Burning Brides' third album,
was produced by Coats and is a raging slab of towering riffs and melodies,
unrelentingly heavy rock that coexists with a keen sense of pop melody.
Burning Brides released its first album in 2001, "Fall of the Plastic Empire,"
made for $5000 in a motorcycle garage in Philadelphia, and earned its fair
of share of comparisons to Nirvana's "Bleach." [see full story for more]-

Peel
Tour |
PR reports: Peel will set out in June on its
first U.S. tour in support of its self-titled debut album. Drummer Alex
Brown from the band Prom Night will be joining the band on drums for the
tour. The record has had the press raving, and has been gaining the band
comparisons to everyone from Pavement to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. While flattering,
these comparisons have left the members of Peel scratching their heads.
With classically trained pianist Allison
Moore managing multiple keyboards, country music fan Dakota Smith giving
Peel its twang, and lefty-ruling-right-handed-guitarist Josh Permenter
in the mix, the members of the group like to think they've set themselves
apart.
Peel will make its way down south and back
up the east coast, and will play three New York dates before returning
back home to perform with The Liars and fellow Austin band The White Ghost
Shivers. [see full story for dates]- Click

LadybiRdS
Enlists Gyn Class Heroes, The Get Up Kids and Say Anything Members |
PR reports: What do Gym Class Heroes' Tyler
Pursel, Say Anything's Max Bemis, and The Get Up Kids' Matt Pryor have
in common? Well, apart from playing in a handful of this nation's finest
pop bands, those performers, along with Justin Johnson from Philly area
band The Danger O's and Neil Sabatino from Jersey-based band Fairmont,
all play on LadybiRdS' debut LP, Regional Community Theater.
The project --to put out a record of glitched
up dance pop guested on by his friends-- was the brainchild of Pursel's.
Everyone was excited to be involved, the songs were laid out, but then
something happened; the record, initially conceived as more of mix-and-match
project, found a frontwoman in New Jersey-bred fireball Teeter Sperber,
former lead singer of the little known yet sort of well-liked Ley Royal
Scam.
LadybiRdS' Regional Community Theater out
September 4th, 2007 on Creep Records. Grab an mp3 at the full story link.
