Who
Vs Live Earth |
Contact Music reports: THE WHO rocker ROGER
DALTREY has blasted this summer's (07) series of Live Earth concerts across
the globe, branding them 'un-environmental' for the amount of air pollution
flying the stars in for the gigs will cause. The singer believes the amount
of fuel needed to put on the concert contradicts the whole reason the event
is being held in the first place - to raise awareness about climate change.
He says, "The last thing the planet needs is a rock concert... I can't
believe it. Let's burn even more fuel. We have problems with global warming,
but the questions and the answers are so huge I don't know what a rock
concert's ever going to do to help. "My answer is to burn all the f**king
oil as quick as possible and then the politicians will have to find a solution."
The veteran rocker was also quick to slam Bob Geldof's Live8 gigs, adding,
"What did we really achieve at Live 8? We got loads of platitudes and no
action. Who were we kidding there? [well, we did get a DVD boxset out of
it- see full story for more because Roger isn't done!]-

Stapp
Gets Slap on the Wrist |
AP reports: A charge against former Creed
frontman Scott Stapp stemming from an apparent confrontation with his wife
was reduced to a misdemeanor Monday.
Stapp had been charged with aggravated
assault with intent to commit a felony after he was arrested at his home
Sunday. No one was injured, Palm Beach County sheriff's officials said.
Judge Cory J. Ciklin reduced the charge
"because the allegation is that Stapp threw a bottle of Orangina at his
wife, at her head, and missed and the bottle broke," sheriff's spokesman
Paul Miller said.[see full story for more]- Click

Want Sanctuary? |
FMQB reports: Both Warner Music Group and
Universal Music Group could be interested in making a play for Sanctuary,
the troubled music group which manages Elton John and James Blunt. Sanctuary
shares went up more than 40 percent last week as it admitted to the market
that it had received approaches from potential bidders, though it did not
say whom, according to The Guardian newspaper in the U.K. Sanctuary could
be attractive to a larger music company because of its music merchandising
arm and its artist management contracts. [see full story for more - and
the answer to last week's random trivia question. Derek Riggs painted a
secret message on the cover of Iron Maiden's "Somewhere in Time". The message
was written backwards on a window front and read "This is a very boring
painting". But which Maiden album cover proclaimed "Indiana Jones was here?"]-
