Good News for Blink-182 Fans
Rockdirt reports: +44 singer Mark Hoppus posted the following message on his myspace page on Wednesday (May 16): "For the past year and a half we have been saying how +44 will never play blink-182 songs. In interviews, when people ask about it, we say it won't happen, we think it's lame, etc. Last week we changed our minds. And tonight during our set we played 'What's My Age Again'. You see, Travis and I LOVE our history with blink-182, and it seems a shame to let those songs sit dormant forever because of what happened two years ago. "The lyrics on this record are very personal," says Volz. "I don't sing about anything I haven't felt or don't mean. Personally, this record was my turn to grab the reins. This album is, with no offense meant to any of my former bandmates, the chance to do everything I've always wanted to do." The recording process took two weeks, the fastest recording experience of Volz's career. "I have never recorded that expediently. Hare Krishna Punks
PR reports: If you look up the number 108 on Wikipedia, you'll learn the following: One hundred [and] eight is an abundant number and a semiperfect number. It is a tetranacci number. It is the hyperfactorial of 3 since it is of the form . 108 is a number that is divisible by the value of its ? function, which is 36. 108 is also divisible by the total number of its divisors (12), hence it is a refactorable number. In normal space, the interior angles of an equilateral pentagon measure 108 degrees each. In Dharmic traditions Hindu deities have 108 names. Recital of these names, often accompanied by counting of 108-beaded Mala, is considered sacred and often done during religious ceremonies. The recital is called namajapa. Siva Nataraja dances his cosmic dance in 108 poses. The number of sins in Tibetan Buddhism is 108. Chinese astrology and Tao philosophy holds that there are 108 sacred stars. However, if reading carefully, one would notice that 108 is also a California based Hare Krishna, hardcore punk band.

After a not so brief hiatus (1996 2005), the band is back with their first studio album in over a decade (Equal Vision Records recently issued a 37 song discography of the band's history to this point), and it sounds like they haven't missed a beat. "A New Beat From A Dead Heart" (out June 26th on Deathwish) was recorded and engineered by Kurt Ballou (Converge) at Godcity Studios. 108 will be performing in a city near you as they prepare for a full tour of the United States, but not before they destroy our lucky friends in Europe first. Grab a listen at the full story link before you go off and shave your head and give up cheeseburgers. - Click Here for the Full Story

Is Dee as Twisted as Star Wars?
PR reports: In honor of the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars saga, Twisted Sister vocalist Dee Snider has been interviewed by the mysterious Maul Stanley (a parody hybrid of Star Wars character Darth Maul and Kiss guitarist Paul Stanley). As part of this special week-long event, Maul Stanley has also interviewed members of Poison, Cinderella and Quiet Riot regarding their own unique Star Wars experiences. Maul Stanley: Do you see any similarities between what you do with Twisted Sister and what George Lucas did with Star Wars?

Dee Snider: Well, I can very much appreciate the challenge of living up to your own history because I've experienced that in the music industry. It's difficult not to second-guess yourself when you're trying to recreate the formula for what gave you success in the first place, especially when there really was no formula! In the case of Star Wars, George Lucas was just going with his gut. People kept saying, "Are you insane? A space movie? No one's watching those anymore!" But Lucas stuck to his guns and it paid off for him big time. However, when you go back and revisit something as successful as that, that's when you begin to doubt yourself. I'm sure George reads what the fans are saying on the bulletin boards and in the chat rooms, hoping to interpret what they want. But the minute you start doing that, it's the kiss of death! It's always difficult to follow in your own footsteps.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
