Stone Vegges Out |
PR reports: Grammy-winning songbird Joss Stone
is raising her voice for her feathered friendsand other animalsin a brand
new ad promoting vegetarianism for peta2, the world's largest youth animal
rights organization. The ad is set for release on March 13 to coincide
with the release of her new album, Introducing Joss Stone, and features
Joss posing with a beautiful chicken beside the tagline "I'm a singer,
a songwriter, a performer, and a human being accepting of all sizes, shapes,
colors, and species. I am Joss Stone, and I am a vegetarian."
The soulful singer, who has been vegetarian
since birth and was voted the "World's Sexiest Vegetarian" in a 2005 peta2
poll, says, "I wanted to do the shoot because I feel there is no need to
cause another living thing pain or harm. There are so many other things
we can eat. I have never eaten meat in my life, and I'm 5 feet 10 inches
and not exactly wasting away. A wise man once said, [A]nimals are my friends
and I'm not in the habit of eating my friends.' That is exactly how I feel."

Goldrush
CD/Tour |
PR reports: Oxford, England quartet Goldrush
burst onto the scene in 2002 with their debut album Don't Bring Me Down
and in 2005 collaborated with former Ride singer Mark Gardener on his debut
solo album. The band are now ready to take on America with their most immediately
captivating album to date, The Heart Is The Place. For the new album Goldrush
hired James Rutledge (Dangermouse, Kevin Shields) to helm the desk. The
band had previously worked with the legendary David Fridmann, but Rutledge
took a different approach and encouraged the band to be more sonically
adventurous, while simultaneously helping them discover their supreme songwriting
ability.
Goldrush are now on our shores to play
SXSW and a few select dates in NY and LA. These are shows not to miss.

Port
Righ Say Don't Be Foolish |
PR reports: Together, Jo and Wayne Morrison
are Port Righ. It is a great pleasure to announce the release of their
very special first album, Na Bi Gòrach. The album, which translates
into English as 'Don't Be Foolish', conveys the two's intense devotion
to traditional Scottish music, as well as some original material. And to
top things off, there's a good old sea shanty. While Port Righ are renowned
for Jo's Celtic harp playing and Wayne's bagpipes, Na Bi Gòrach
expands their horizons by utilising an English concertina, and even Ugandan
drum.

Warren
Zevon Reissues |
PR reports: Rhino Entertainment will release
Warren Zevon's Excitable Boy, The Envoy and Stand in the Fire in expanded
& remastered format on March 27th. Like no other singer-songwriter
of his generation, Warren Zevon addressed murder, desperate passion, espionage,
crippling loneliness, and f***-you excess with a lethal wit and confessional
grace that remain unrivaled. When the singer-songwriter-pianist succumbed
to lung cancer in 2003, the music world lost a truly original voice. Rhino
honors Zevon's brilliant lyrics, poignant melodies, withering wit, and
devastating satire with a trio of reissues that revisit two of his finest
studio efforts, plus a stunning live album. Remastered and expanded with
previously unreleased bonus tracks, Excitable Boy, Stand In The Fire, and
The Envoy will each be available March 27 at all retail outlets and at
www.rhino.com for a suggested list price of $18.98, $11.98, and $11.98
respectively, and at all digital music providers for a suggested retail
price of $9.99. Additionally, there will be an exclusive album-only iTunes
version featuring rare photos available for $9.99. [see full story for

Is The New American National Anthem |
PR reports: Those familiar with the mid-90's
heyday of the AmRep label's fantastic T Rex-meets-Blue Cheer power trio
Love 666 will recall that band's penchant for grandiose statements of drug-fueled
revolution (including the landmark album titled Please Kill Yourself So
I Can Rock.) Over a decade later, Dave Unger and Joe Johnson are still
advocating pure freedom, drug use and revolution in the new freeform noise
rock collective fittingly named Rock / USAdown, two independent endeavors
that perform separately on tour and on future releases.
The duo's forthcoming new album This Is
The New American National Anthem is the product of mental illness, years
of drug abuse and personal epiphanies found in free-association noise music.
Rock / USAdown's performances are completely unhinged and unhindered --
neither musician listening to the other. Guitars squall, crash and crescendo
alongside looping noises and many other dashes of extreme ugliness. But
this isn't some plebian attempt at noise, both members of Rock / USAdown
have trained in music at prestigious schools before shirking that world
in favor of the pursuit of chaos and revolution. [see full story for more]-

In God Bless the American Plague,
the band The American Plague, that is walks that fine line between
'raw' and 'poorly produced.' It's quite the collection of energetic and
passionate punk-infused rock tracks, albeit with a few missteps.
