Kittie Temp
PR reports: KITTIE regrets to announce that bassist, Trish Doan, will not be performing on their upcoming SWEET REVENGE tour. Standing in for her on the tour will be Jeff Phillips from THINE EYES BLEED. Doan has written a note to fans explaining the hiatus... Dear Kittie Fans,

Due to pressing personal health matters, I must sadly inform you that I will be taking a hiatus from touring with Kittie commencing immediately. With the complete and ongoing support from the band and management it is clear, as unfortunate it is, that these matters be addressed promptly. I want to thank everyone for the tremendous support over these past two years. It has been nothing but an amazing experience so far and this decision has been made to do what is best for everyone.

Sincerely

Meat Not Sexy for AFI
PR reports: More than 27,000 young voters have spoken, and actor Kristen Bell and AFI frontman Davey Havok have been crowned the winners of the third annual World's Sexiest Vegetarian contest. The online contest is held by peta2, the world's largest youth animal rights organization. Bell and Havok narrowly edged out Andy Hurley of Fall Out Boy, Greta Salpeter of The Hush Sound, Jared Leto of 30 Seconds to Mars, Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia, and one of last year's winners, actor Natalie Portman. Bell now joins Portman as the only women in the history of the World's Sexiest Vegetarian contests to have won the title in both the peta2 and PETA categories.

Havok started AFI with some high school friends, and the group has put out a steady stream of popular and critically acclaimed albums ever since, culminating in last year's release Decemberunderground. Havok says that going vegan makes the world a better place for animals and humans. "I certainly would encourage anyone to explore a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle .... I think we must begin with the betterment of humanity, which would then naturally result in compassion for animals."

The complete list of vegetarian celebrities who were in the running in this year's poll is available at the full story link. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Nikka Costa Turns LA Purple With Prince
PR reports: Critics darling Nikka Costa joined Prince onstage for the finale of his first 3121 show at the Hollywood Roosevelt on Saturday, June 23. Costa shared the mic with Prince on his anthemic track "Purple Rain," bringing the house down and all its attendees to their feet. The exclusive two hour show kicked off at 1AM and was host to a star-studded crowd including Penelope Cruz, P.Diddy, Nas, Hilary Swank and Erykah Badu and others. Costa was right at home with the evening's swampy, Louisiana tinged funk sounds melding old Hollywood with the South circa the 1940's. Her relationship with Prince dates back to her co-write of his track "Silver Tongue" which became the b-side to his single "Call Your Name."

Costa is perhaps best known for her radio hits "Everybody Got Their Something" and "Like A Feather." She is no stranger to the music business as she's the daughter of famed arranger/producer Don Costa (Frank Sinatra, Paul Anka, Dinah Washington, Tony Bennett) and the goddaughter of the late Frank Sinatra. Her dynamic, sultry and soulful vocals make her a highly regarded and relevant musician. Currently, Costa has recorded a song for a pending Cy Coleman tribute project which also features tracks from Fiona Apple and Elvis Costello amongst others. In addition Costa is writing and preparing to record her 3rd album due out next year.

That's one of the things that has always made A.i. special."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Monkeys For Nothin and the Chimps For Free
PR reports: After more than 15 years of conveying negative vibes, warning listeners about the dangers of being in a band and lamenting their time in the music industry (case in point: the band's radio hit, "Sell Out"), the members of Southern California ska-punk stalwarts Reel Big Fish want to let the world know of a big change: They're finally happy. Some of that happiness stems from being released from their former label's contract. "We're very happy to be off the major label because they didn't understand us," says front man Aaron Barrett. "They didn't know what to call us, how to market us or who to market us to. They are used to pre-packaged pop and radio-ready rock and I think we were just too weird for them to comprehend. So eventually they just ended up doing nothing."

Freed from such obligations, Reel Big Fish is finally releasing its first independent studio album since leaving its former label. The self-produced Monkeys For Nothin' And The Chimps For Free finds the members of Reel Big Fish doing things their way. In fact, it features material done their way, from quite a long ways back. "We decided we were going to do a B-sides and rarities thing, but we didn't have anything to release, so we were going to re-record some things that we were going to call B-sides and rarities," explains Barrett. "But then we realized that most of that stuff no one had ever heard, so it wasn't really B-sides and rarities, it was just new songs. But those weren't good enough, so we wrote some new songs that were actually new, and suddenly we're making a new album."

Monkeys For Nothin and the Chimps For Free Hits stores on 7/10. See the band on the road with Less Than Jake[see full story for dates]- Click Here for the Full Story
