Drummer Found Dead

NME reports: The body of Ra Ra Riot drummer John Pike has been found. 

Pike, 23, went missing after attending a party in Massachusetts on Friday night.

The band played a show in Providence, RI on Friday night and afterwards attended a party in Fairhaven, MA.

Sting a Pansy?

Gigwise reports: Police drummer Stewart Copeland has trashed his band's performance at one of their recent comeback shows. 

Copeland posts an in depth critique of the band's Vancouver gig � the second stop on their comeback tour - on his official website after a slew of miscues and mishaps resulted in what he describes as an "ubeLIEVably [sic] lame" show.

Kanye Afraid of 50 Cent?

Contact Music reports: Hip-hop star KANYE WEST is releasing his third album Graduation early, to avoid a sales war with rival rapper 50 CENT. 50 Cent has delayed the release of his disc Curtis from 26 June to 4 September (07), claiming the quality would be affected if it was released in the summer. NV Bans Fake Bands

AP reports: Nevada on Thursday became one of at least a dozen states to enact laws against fake groups promoting themselves as famed musicians. 

The new law requires performing groups to have at least one member of the recording group that they claim a connection to, or label the production a "tribute" or "salute." Sharpton Vs Rap in Motown

Jam! reports: Rev. Al Sharpton has brought his campaign to clean up hip-hop lyrics to Motown, and organizers hope to collect thousands of bars of soap as symbols of the effort.

Poison/Ratt Drop Tramp

KNAC reports: Poison's Rikki Rocket tells KNAC.COM that it is official; White Lion has been removed from this Summer's Poison/Ratt co-headlining tour.

Sweden's glam-rock revisited band Vains of Jenna have been selected to step into the opening slot on the tour.

Obituary Find Their Guitarist

SMN reports: OBITUARY have posted the following update:

"There is so much going on! The most important thing is the recording/mixing of the new CD and that is going amazing! These new songs are so heavy and we are happy and lucky to announce that Ralph Santolla (ex-DEICIDE, DEATH, ICED EARTH) is helping us with some of the guitar work. To have someone like Ralph working with us is totally new to OBITUARY and I can't tell you how excited we are. This new album, Xecutioners Return, is just coming to life!

Cobain Film Soundtrack

punkbands reports: The soundtrack to the film 'Kurt Cobain About A Son' will feature tracks from Bad Brains, Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard, Iggy Pop and David Bowie as well as several other bands that reportedly influenced the Nirvana frontman.

The soundtrack, due out in the US on September 11 via Barsuk. The film, due out in late 2007, features several rare interviews with the singer, as well as footage of sites in the Pacific Northwest that played a major role in his life. Korn Stretch The Imagination with New CD Title

Tunelab reports: Korn have titled their new album 'Untitled' which is due out on July 31st. K-Tel of Metal Launches TV Show

Sleazeroxx.com reports: Coming soon to a TV near you will be the weekly 30-minute metal program, 'Rocknation.' Put together by the Perris Records label, the program will air weekly Saturday night at midnight, and will feature only the best metal videos - of artists from other labels as well as on Perris. The show will be made available on both Time Warner and Comcast, The Show will be viewed online worldwide also at www.rocknation.us 

Cities confirmed thus far to carry 'Rocknation' include Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Tyler, Oklahoma City, Atlanta, and Omaha, with more to soon follow. Earvolution reports: With the Strokes taking the year off, Albert Hammond Jr. has kept himself busy with his solo act. However, he apparently still has time on his hands. The guitarist is reportedly going to switch gears a bit and work on a screenplay.

Jack White as Elvis

Earvolution reports: Jack White may be busy touring in support of the new White Stripes record and he, of course, has his famous side project the Raconteurs. Now, according to a report by WENN, he has added yet another project to his plate. The report says White is set to play the King in a comedy called Walk Hard set to be released next year.
