Obscure songs and Sharpied Shirts
PR reports: The Majestic Twelve lead singer Kenyata Sullivan, a longtime fan and archivist of obscure and unreleased music, launched his own Mp3 pictoblog, 366shirts.com on January 1st, and didn't tell anyone. That rat bastard.

"From death metal to techno, spoken word to low-fi, lounge, hardcore, indie rock, hip hop, power pop, backwoods Cajun, and demo garage slaughterhouse pandemonium, there's just so much great unheard stuff," says Sullivan. "It's fun to put it out there, and of course ruin some perfectly good shirts in the process. 366shirts.com features one great ridiculously obscure song every day (accompanied by a photo of someone in a hand-sharpied half-assed shirt) for the entire year of 2007. That's the gig. Can I go now? Oh. Do you have any Slim Jims or other processed meat products? I like those."

Reader Mail: Hotel California EXISTS!
antiMusic Reader Mail reports: We were told by this reader not to ignore this and judging by the message we have heeded the warning. Here is the reader mail: "'Welcome to the Hotel California Whata lovely place...'...by the Eagles. Sounds to me, no matter what they say, you CANNOT leave anytime you like! Some people dance to remember, and some people dance to forget...that shimmering light in the distance...his eyes grew heavy and his eyes grew dim, had to stop for the night. Little did he know what he had in store...And by the way, 'gracias para 'hermosa'"

This song and its strange imagery have inspired a lot of speculation from people for the past 30 years (including the sane and insane). One popular urban myth says that it was inspired by the Camarillo State Mental Hospital (north of Los Angeles) which looks similar to the hotel used on the album cover (Beverly Hills Hotel). A cynic may think it inspired the "roach motel" tagline about roaches checking in but not checking out. Further speculation has it that to do Satanism. As for the real meaning it was supposedly a "allegory about hedonism and greed in Southern California in the 1970s." You can read more about the "myths" and the supposed real meaning at the full story link. - Click Here for the Full Story

Brandy Causes Fatal Crash
TMZ reports: TMZ has learned R&B sensation Brandy was involved in a fatal accident last month, and it appears to be her fault.

It happened at 10:30 AM on December 30, 2006 on the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Brandy was driving her 2007 Land Rover at 65 mph and did not notice that cars in front of her had slowed considerably. We're told Brandy's vehicle struck a 2005 Toyota. The Toyota then hit a 1989 Toyota. The 2005 Toyota then slid sideways and hit the center divider. As the 2005 Toyota came to a halt, it was struck by a 1988 Acura.

We're told the driver of the 2005 Toyota was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in critical condition and she died.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Today's Reviews

Diane And The Shell - 30,000 Feet Tarantella
instrumental soundscapes that are unlike other such music in that it's not simply background music. Mix Primus with early Genesis and that's sorta what we have hear, although it's even a bit removed from that comparison.- Read the full Diane And The Shell - 30,000 Feet Tarantella review

Kristoffer Ragnstam - Do You Want a Piece of Me
Swedish born rocker Kristoffer Ragnstam decided early in his musical career that he did not want to be a part of the cookie cutter musical styles of artists coming from the Scandinavian countries. - Read the full Kristoffer Ragnstam - Do You Want a Piece of Me review
