TMZ reports: Paris Hilton has entered a plea
in her DUI case. Paris, originally charged with DUI, pled no contest Monday
to alcohol-related reckless driving. Hilton was not present when her lawyers,
Howard Weitzman and Shawn Chapman Holley, told Los Angeles Superior Court
Judge Michael Sauer that the heiress would rather fold than fight.
The judge placed Hilton on 36 months probation.
She must pay a fine of $390 (with penalty assessments, Paris must pay a
grand total of $1450) and attend an alcohol education program.[see full

Twisted
Banana Vs Axl |
C.C. Banana reports: As an epilogue to his
2006 Bananiversary Celebration, rock & roll comic C.C. Banana has interviewed
all 5 members of Twisted Sister. In the first of these 5 holiday-themed
interviews, C.C. Banana speaks with founding Twisted Sister guitarist Jay
Jay French about their current album "A Twisted Christmas" and the possible
future of the band. A few excerpts from the interview follow:
C.C. Banana: What was it like recording
a Christmas album during one of the hottest summers on record? ** Jay Jay
French: Every Christmas album I know of has been recorded during the summer.
Every quote I've ever read has been something like, "When I wrote 'Chestnuts
Roasting on an Open Fire' it was 90 degrees outside." All I can say is,
my chestnuts were roasting when we recorded this album. It was freakin'
hot! We were in a studio on Long Island with the air conditioning turned
off, because we wanted to squeeze every last nuance from those 100-watt
Marshall amplifiers with no distortion. Just because we care that much!
C.C. Banana: What would you give Axl Rose
for Christmas? ** Jay Jay French: I'd give him a watch so he could get
his sorry f**kin' ass on stage on time, instead of ripping off his fans.
That piece of sh*t! [see full story for more]- Click

Angry
Inch Spawns Pagoda |
Universal reports: The rock band Pagoda will
release their eponymous debut album February 27, 2007 on Ecstatic Peace
records + tapes. The band's most notable member, vocalist and guitarist
Michael Pitt, is probably most known for acting roles in films such as
"Hedwig and the Angry Inch", Gus van Sant's "Last Days" and Bernardo Bertolucci's
"The Dreamers". What most people don't know is that he is also a talented
singer and songwriter. Pitt has been performing music just as long as he
has been acting. He formed Pagoda several years ago - which now consists
of Reese Carr on drums and Willy Paredes on bass.
Sonic Youth legend and Ecstatic Peace founder,
Thurston Moore, first met Pitt while composing music for the Larry Clark
movie, "Bully" but it was a reintroduction through researching a role for
the movie, "Last Days" (van Sant's impressionistic take on Kurt Cobain's
final hours) where the young songwriter and Moore connected musically.
At Moore's apartment, van Sant prodded Pitt to play for Moore. "All I had
lying around the apartment was a crummy electric guitar Michael took it
and began to belt out a solo rendition of "Lesson Learned" (the first track
on the Pagoda CD.) I was taken aback." [check out the song at the full
story link] From that meeting sparked the journey for Moore and Pitt which
culminates with the album, Pagoda.

Virgin
Black in April |
PR reports: THE END RECORDS has set a release
date of April 3rd, 2007 for the new album from Australia's gothic/classical/doom
band VIRGIN BLACK, titled Requiem - Mezzo Forte.' The album, part of the
Requiem' trilogy, will be the first installment (the 2nd of the trilogy)
released and will be followed later on this year by Requiem Pianissimo'
and Requiem Fortissimo.'
About the Requiem' trilogy, singer/songwriter
Rowan London comments, "Well, I feel like I've become a completely non-functioning
part of society over the past two years. Requiem has been the most agonizingly
difficult experience I have ever faced. On one side are the logistics of
three albums, two and a half hours of music, and financing it all (orchestra
included). The other side is the emotional toll; the far too many times
I fell in a heap feeling that it would be impossible to succeed and coming
oh so close to completely giving up the project. I take many a scar from
this process and may never experience this kind of beautiful pain again.

Blade Sign Hate Eternal |
Metal Blade reports: Metal Blade Records has
just signed a worldwide deal with Death Metal Legends, Hate Eternal. Formed
in 1997, Hate Eternal's goal has always been to challenge musical limitations
and create new boundaries with no compromise; to obtain goals aimed at
by many yet reached by only a select few; to create music that not only
defies all clichés, but that creates a true sense of power, dissonance
and consonance, heaviness and speed, melody and brutality, simply put horrific
hymns.[see full story for more]- Click

Middian
(Post YOB) Set Debut |
Metal Blade reports: Mike Scheidt gives us
the 411 about his new band: After YOB got back from our last tour in 2005,
it became very obvious that our individual goals in the band had changed.
Travis Foster and Isamu Sato both left the band after we explored options
for keeping YOB together. Neither of them had the stomach for touring anymore,
and I knew I wanted to keep touring. After about 8 months of thought as
whether to continue with what would be YOB's 5th line-up after Isamu and
Travis left, and after trying out some fine musicians, I decided to let
YOB go. So I decided to start a new band: very much in the vein of YOB,
but more angry and mid-paced on average, but still with roots in slow DOOM
and the cosmic vibe that was a part of YOB. Middian is that band. In my
mind I was already thinking about who I was going to approach for a rhythm
section: My friends Will Lindsay on bass and Scott Headrick on drums. They
are both very experienced musicians who, while having roots in extreme
music, neither had played DOOM influenced music before. I wanted a fresh
take on the riffs I was writing. Luckily they were both into it, and we
have been having a blast ever since."
Age Eternal is our first album together,
and we are very happy with it overall. It is a solid first album for us
and is setting the blueprint for what we do: DOOM and Stoner influenced
music without it exactly being either....but definitely being HEAVY.[see
