Spector Trial Set
E! Online reports: The idea that Phil Spector will actually stand trial for murder is starting to look less whimsical.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler set Mar. 19 as the day to begin jury selection, saying Tuesday, "We have to get to this trial."

While testimony probably won't start until three or four weeks after a jury is chosen, it's looking promising that Spector's criminal trial is finally going to go forward after a year of delays.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

NFL Snubs Britney
hecklerspray reports: [and for today's BS report] This big Britney Spears post-divorce comeback that we were all promised isn't quite as amazing as we thought, considering it's mainly consisted of fainting, puking and flashing her genitals around like the mad old lady who hangs round outside Woolworths.

But Britney Spears had one big gun left in her armoury - Britney Spears wanted to announce her dramatic reappearance as a shiny happy pop person by appearing in a huge all-star TV commercial promoting the NFL Network alongside big names like L.L. Cool J and Paris Hilton. And all was going according to plan, right up until the moment that Britney Spears actually asked the NFL if she could be in the advert. Because at that point the NFL said no to Britney Spears and then called her a "train wreck." [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Senator Vs Payola
TuneLab reports: Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) has written an open letter to FCC Chairman Kevin Martin, responding to yesterday's news that the commission is considering a proposal to resolve the ongoing payola investigation. In the letter, Feingold urges the FCC to not entrust an industry that "former Attorney General [Eliot] Spitzer has already shown to have violated payola rules" to police itself. Feingold urges Martin to "instead seek strong binding settlements that ensure future compliance with the law and reassure consumers they will have access to small, independent and local labels and artists via the public airwaves."

Feingold notes that the rumored proposal would "not even admit any wrongdoing on the part of the companies - something that is typical for such an agreement," especially when "there was significant wrongdoing, both through traditional payola's direct bribes and new forms that sought to use middlemen to conceal the violations." Feingold contends that without "an admission that both traditional and new forms of payola are covered by the FCC jurisdiction, some in the industry may continue to contend that new forms of payola are legal." Fall Out Boy Vs Meathead
punkbands reports: One week after he leapt into the crowd and began wailing on a security guard at the Sunshine Theater in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz is still a little bit sore, a little bit embarrassed and in what might be a first a little bit wary of talking about the incident.

But that isn't stopping his bandmates from giving their accounts of the punch-up, which occurred while FOB was playing the final song of their set during last weekend's gig at the Sunshine

"I was standing on a riser, stage left, and I see this meathead dude pushing around girls and trying to get into it with our security guy," guitarist Joe Trohman said. "All I can tell you is the dude was a meathead, and he was being a real jerk. I saw it all happen right in front me, and he started it all. He was pushing around girls, tried to push around [the band's security guard] Charlie. He was out of his gourd."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
