5 Reunion? |
Idolator.com reports: Everybody's getting
back together this year: The Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against the Machine,
the Spice Girls--heck, even Al Qaeda has reassembled to put on a bunch
of secret shows throughout Pakistan. So it was only a matter of time before
Michael, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, Jackie, Randy and Squiggy decided to cash
in on the craze: I'm told that Michael reluctantly met with his siblings
on Monday in Las Vegas. Sisters Janet and Rebbie, as well as Jermaine,
Randy, Marlon, Tito and Jackie, all knocked on Jackson's Las Vegas door
around 7:30 p.m. Nanny Grace Rwaramba, who runs the door, made them wait
between 30 and 60 minutes before allowing the brood in.
What was discussed was the family's financial
situation and the fact that Jackson has so far been unable to get work
in Vegas. Sources say concert promoter Leonard Rowe of Atlanta, who worked
with the Jacksons in the 1980s, was there and made a proposal: a family
tour with all members...[see full story for more]- Click

get their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this Wednesday. The ceremony
will take place at 11:30 am outside the Virgin Mega Store at Hollywood
/ Highland. Legendary Los Angeles DJ Jim Ladd will speak at the ceremony
as well as Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman. Unlike some stars that
purchased stars on the Walk of Fame (yes we are looking at you Britney
Spears and Ryan Seacrest), The Doors earned theirs as 2007 marks the 40th
anniversary for the band.
Earlier this month the band received a
Lifetime Achievement Award during the 49th Grammy Awards Ceremony. And
on May 25th the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will open the "Break On Through

Van
Halen Interview |
Rolling Stone reports: Last week we were hit
with the tragic news that Van Halen's highly anticipated and freshly announced
reunion tour was being indefinitely postponed. The jury is still out on
what all this means especially with regard to the band's performance
plans at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony March 12th
in New York City. A few weeks ago, our Brian Hiatt spoke to Eddie and Alex
Van Halen about among other things the band's thoughts on being inducted
and the logistics of going onstage with VH members new and old to play
the award show. [RS has posted clips from the interview including topics
ranging from the future of the band, replacing Michael and more, see the

Killed Audioslave? |
TuneLab reports: Sources tell The New York
Post that Chris Cornell's move to quit Audioslave came down to money.
"Chris was unhappy with the financial arrangement
within the group - he wrote all the music, yet the other three bandmates
took an equal share in the multimillion-dollar publishing rights," a Cornell
pal explained. [See full story for more breaking rock news But it's pretty
funny how the key problem with communism was exposed using capitalism.
Chris not being a communist, must not have understood or he would have
let the others do the work while he'd still make the same amount of money.]

Super
Bowl Boss? |
Idolator.com reports: The NFL is apparently
figuring that there's only one way to top this year's completely epic performance
by Prince at this year's Super Bowl, and that's to bring in The Boss. From
Variety:
Bruce Springsteen and Norah Jones are at
the top of the list. The NFL is hoping the recent successes of Prince,
the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney can be used as leverage to bring
in the Boss while Jones would be ideal to sing the National Anthem during
the pregame ceremonies, according to NFL VP of programming Charles Coplin.[see

up with Oasis after the Brit Awards at the group's after party. Furtado
explained, "I've met Noel Gallagher before, but I ran over to Liam and
said, 'Hi, hi, I'm Nelly, I'm a big fan, and you were great tonight', and
he went, 'Oh right. I like your song', and I'm like, 'Which one? All Good
Things Come To An End?' And he's like, 'Yeah, that one', and I'm like,
'Chris Martin helped me write it', and then he goes, 'Oh, then I hate it,
it's rubbish.'" [see full story for more fun rock dirt!]-

Accident
Kills As Blood Runs Black Tour |
Lambgoat reports: As Blood Runs Black has
dropped off the remainder of their tour with Sworn Enemy, Kataklysm, etc.
due to a van accident. Here's a statement from the band:
"On Saturday Febuary 24th at approximately
4:30pm ABRB took a life threatning spill. We hit black ice/slush and spun
out of control across the highway in the Oregon Mountains. The trailer
fish-tailed forcing the van to go in the direction toward the edge of the
mountain. We hit like 4 feet of snow forcing us to do a full 180 and down
the side of the mountain we go before this tree luckily stopped us from
falling to our deaths. We are all blessed to be ALIVE. Despite the accident
we somehow still managed to get to our show that night and still played
for our fans. Everyone as well as our trailer is OK. Our van is not in
any condition to drive and now are forced to cancel the rest of our tour.

Kills The Video Stars? |
altmusictv reports: altmusictv has learned
MTV2 is abandoning the concept of VJ-hosted shows, opting instead for a
straight-up video block format.
Subterranean, Headbangers Ball, Sucker
Free, and all surviving music shows on the network will drop their hosts,
voiceovers, and guests. Essentially, this means Subterranean as we know
it is gone. This week's episode from the PLUG awards will be the last one
with the usual format. Subsequent episodes apparently will not feature
host Jim Shearer or bands at all.
I was told these changes are being made
"for the forseeable future," but I'm guessing we'll never see a VJ on MTV2's
music shows again. I'd say this is MTV2's way of phasing out its music
shows entirely. We're witnessing the end of over 25 years of the VJ concept
on MTV. [see
