Jon Foreman (Switchfoot) Week: Lord, Save Me From Myself |
Lord, Save Me From Myself: The recording process for this project was entirely different from a band approach. Instead of building the songs on the foundation of drums and bass, we built them around the vocal. I would play the tune down, (often the night I wrote it) guitar and vocal at the same time. Plain and simple. I wanted these songs to sound exactly like I recorded them late at night at my house. So that's what I did.
But I get bored with the singer songwriter thing. I wanted to add some of my favorite instruments into the mix. But instead of fitting the vocal into the production I wanted to build the production around the vocal. But the vocal had the final say. We tried to put drums on a few of the other songs but the songs repelled them. I think this is the only song on this EP where the drums actually stuck around. Wrote this one in Detroit on my sister's guitar, this mini thing, might have been a baby Taylor.

Aerosmith Brawl |
A witness tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "A woman from the tribe was trying to take a picture of Steven Tyler. Steven's girlfriend was coming back, from the restroom. Apparently, Erin got in the way of the picture or something, and some words were exchanged.
"Next thing everyone knows, the two girls are going at it. Scratching, hair-pulling, hitting. It lasted about six seconds, then security broke it up. Steven got up to try to pull them apart, but it happened so fast, he really didn't have time to do anything. Security was right on top of it."

Tritt Sues Label for Fraud |
Tritt, who released his latest album, "The Storm," this year on the new independent label Category 5 Records, seeks $10 million in damages. Filed in federal district court, the suit names Category 5 and its president and CEO, Ray Termini of Connecticut.
Tritt contends that Termini misrepresented Category 5's skill and competence as a record company, its financial resources and its ability to honor its financial obligations. He claims he was denied the complete creative control as promised, as well as money for promotional travel and royalty payments.

Ripper Iced as Barlow Returns to Iced Earth |
"When I heard several months ago that Matt [Barlow] was going to be doing a project in music again, I was thinking about contacting him and seeing what his intentions were. I didn't act on this because I was so focused on the writing of the new epic, and frankly, it just didn't seem realistic. Well, after getting out on the road and speaking with many of you directly, I decided to call Matt and see how he was doing and if he was interested in working together again. I am proud to say that he is coming back to ICED EARTH and we will be getting back to work in the studio very soon."
"Matt will be singing on Part 2 of the 'Something Wicked' concept CD and we will be looking forward to getting out on tour and delivering a series of ICED EARTH shows that will rival any in the history of the band. And there will be a proper DVD filmed from this period, something we've all been waiting for."
