The Jefferson Airplane Flight Manual
PR reports: "Craig Fenton knows so much about the Jefferson Airplane and family, I was asking him the questions," said Marty Balin, founding member of the Jefferson Airplane, commenting on Craig Fenton's new Jefferson Airplane book, "Take Me To A Circus Tent." As the plane heads full speed toward the 40th anniversary of the Summer of Love, "Take Me To A Circus Tent" has opened a portal for those to revisit the original Summer of Love, preceding and subsequent years.

Craig says he saw an opportunity to present the Jefferson Airplane in a new direction. The music is the star. The book contains 93 almost-never-in- print photos mostly furnished by Herb Greene (the photographer who shot the cover for the "Surrealistic Pillow" record) and Don Aters (the best friend of legendary promoter Chet Helms). The two rarest are from the early days. One image is pre-Jack Casady and Skip Spence; the other is signed by Paul Kantner as Paul Airplane. The result is a 543-page encyclopedia of information. Echo & The Bunnymen DVD
PR reports: Echo & The Bunnymen's Dancinghorses DVD will hit stores 6/26. This performance was filmed & recorded at The Shepherds Bush Empire (UK) in 2005. It includes an incredible 20-song set as well as an exclusive interview with Ian McCulloch & Will Sergeant. Echo & the Bunnymen's melancholy post-punk and psychedelic rock brought the group a slew of hits in the UK circa early '80s. In the US, the band attracted a significant cult following after their self-titled release in 1987. Through the past 25+ years, the band has undergone a number of lineup changes, breakups, and reformations, but in 2007 they re-signed to their original record label. This DVD is outstanding proof of their song writing ability, musicianship, and stage presence.- Click Here for the Full Story

Chasing Victory in May
PR reports: Chasing Victory's new album, "Fiends" which hits store and digital shelves on May 8th, is now available for pre-sell with Best Buy and Smartpunk.com. The pre-sells went live on the band's Myspace on Sunday April 22nd.

The sophomore effort from the Georgia band is a more mature rock offering but doesn't betray the hardcore roots of the band. Front man Adam Harrell has this to say about the new album, "'Fiends' is very diverse and each song has something that sets it apart from the rest. We used a lot of cleaner guitar tracks and let the bass and drums drive the songs to keep from masking everything with thick distortion, which has become very popular these days. The vocals on the record sound completely different also. There is a lot more singing and I owe it all to Jeff Buckley and our producer Nathan Dantzler. Nathan really help me capture a vocal sound that I felt comfortable with and steered me away from screaming as much."

Chasing Victory is currently finishing up a North America tour with August Burns Red and will play festivals and tour with Showbread and label mate The Showdown this summer.- Click Here for the Full Story

Scum of the Earth Expand New CD
PR reports: Scum of the Earth (featuring x Rob Zombie guitarist Riggs) is currently wrapping up recording sessions for the band's second album entitled SLEAZE FREAK, to be released by Eclipse Records later this year. "We decided to write 2 more songs for the album, so after wrapping up preliminary tracking at Belt of Orion studios in Los Angeles, we took a little break to write some more material", said Riggs. "I also needed to take care of a few things back home so we postponed recording for sessions for 2 months and now we have resumed, it's great to be back to working on getting Sleaze Freak wrapped up and into the hands of the fans, we've got some great new s*** to record."

The band is currently at Studio 2100 in Springfield, MO to finish tracking and mixing the new album, and expect to be finished by June 1st. When asked about a street date, Riggs replied "Eclipse hasn't set one yet. Everybody's been asking, but it makes sense what they're doing, not setting the street date until we hand over the finished masters. Plus it's allowing us to be a lot more creative, taking our time and not having a deadline looming over our heads... up until now." [see full story for track list]- Click Here for the Full Story

Frank Black 93-03
PR reports: "Frank Black 93-03," a chronological anthology of FRANK BLACK's work covering the Pixies' front man's nine solo albums recorded during that time period, will be released in the U.S. on June 12 through Cooking Vinyl. According to Black, "There is totally a narrative arc to my solo career. "It sounds trite, but in basic language this is what's happening on these songs: it's me breaking away from the Pixies and finding myself as a solo artist, finding a band again and forging that together, then losing it and my marriage, and finally getting my obsession with two-track recording out of my system. It's a total arc.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
