Avril
Beats NIN |
Reuters reports: Canadian pop singer Avril
Lavigne's third studio album will top the U.S. charts when sales data are
issued Wednesday, while rock combo Nine Inch Nails will be the runner-up,
industry experts predict.
Each should open with more than 200,000
copies, a welcome boost for the Billboard 200, where the chart-topper on
four occasions this year, including the current week, has sold less than
90,000 copies.[see full story for more]- Click

Axes Shows |
Contact Music reports: GUNS N' ROSES have
axed their festival shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa,
to allow bass player Tommy Stinson more time to recover from a wrist injury.
The group pulled the plug on a show in Japan last Saturday (14Apr07) after
Stinson sprained his wrist in a stair fall last week (ends13Apr07) - and
he is still too wounded to play. As a result, the band has scrapped their
two scheduled My Coke Festival performances. Guns N' Roses have also pulled
the plug on scheduled shows in Australia and New Zealand.[see full story

FL
to Outlaw Fake Bands |
AP reports: The Florida Senate embraced the
"truth in music" movement Friday with passage of legislation barring oldies
acts using famous names to which they're not entitled.
The bill now awaiting House approval would
prohibit a person from advertising or holding a live performance using
such a name under false pretenses.
Bands with famous names performing with
at least one original member who has the legal right would be allowed.
The measure also would still allow people who own a federal service mark
or trademark to use the name of a band.[see full story for more]-

Morrissey
Snubs Rock Hall |
Gigwise reports: Morrissey has reportedly
snubbed the opportunity of being inducted into the US Music Hall Of Fame
along with his Smiths bandmates.
The frontman had been invited to the ceremony
celebrating his seminal band's entry into the hall of fame.
However, the bad blood still flowing between
him Johnny Marr, Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce following the band's split
