Idol
Producers Blame Sun for Drop in Ratings |
TMZ reports: Viewership of "American Idol"
has slipped compared to last season, and each episode has been watched
by less people than the one before it. Is the lack of talent, embodied
by Internet fav Sanjaya Malakar, the cause? Or maybe, as the show's EP
would have us believe, it's the sun's fault.
Nielsen stats show that the Tuesday performance
shows are down about 10 percent compared to last season (from roughly 31
million viewers to 28). This past Wednesday night's results episode, which
saw tongue-studded shrieker Gina Glocksen get the boot, was the least watched
episode of the season, according to TV Week.
But if you ask "Idol" producer Nigel Lythgoe
what is causing the problem, he'll blame Daylight Savings Time, which started
three weeks earlier this year. Ratings tend to dip every year whenever
the time change kicks in. "Even if we lost 50 percent of our audience,
we'd still be in the top three shows in the country," Lythgoe said at a
press conference on Monday. It's good to be king. [Weren't ratings also
down before DLST? Maybe it was the six month long, overly drawn out "audition"
episodes? Ok it wasn't six months long only seemed like it. Perhaps people
are just getting sick of televised karaoke. We can only hope.]-

Mystery
Supergroup Neon Horse Coming in May |
PR reports: Mystery Supergroup Neon Horse
to Release Tooth & Nail Debut May 8th, Will Music Video Betray Band
Identities? Meet Neon Horse, a musical trio that arose from the same Los
Angeles music scene that's filled with myriad cookie-cutter bands who've
played hundreds of shows at local clubs like the Troubadour, Spaceland,
Viper Room, El Rey, Knitting Factory and many more with so little to show
aside from their day jobs that span everything from catering temps to postal
workers. While so many fallen artists descend into this inevitable cliché,
the members of Neon Horse met a simple twist of fate the day a man by the
name of Norman entered their lives.
The band first met their larger-than-life
frontman back in the winter of 2005 at the recently closed nightclub Teddy's
inside the old Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. After an uncomfortable encounter
involving Norman and a four-foot length of chain in his hand, the trio
agreed to meet for what would be the first official band rehearsal. Two
songs later the lineup was settled and Neon Horse was born. In the tradition
of their humble beginnings, the members of Neon Horse prefer to leave their
identities a mystery. With the exception of establishing Norman as the
face of the group, the band simply wishes to be known as: Neon Horse. The
video for "Cuckoo!" will be released to the public in the coming weeks,
with the album to follow on May 8th. While the band aims for anonymity,
the video is reported to show some very familiar faces of the rock world.
Will the video give away the identities of our cloaked heroes? Stay tuned...[see

Rock N Roll Universe reports: In a brand new
exclusive interview conducted by Rock N Roll Universe, legendary former
10cc drummer and influential music video director Kevin Godley discusses
his days in 10cc, Godley & Creme, working with The Beatles on the video
for "Real Love" as well as his recently rekindled collaboration with fellow

Case You Forgot Britney Sings |
EW.com reports: Is Britney Back In The Zone?
Exclusive Q&A With Her Producer Sean Garrett: Garrett tells EW.com
he's working on the new Britney Spears record and assures she has everything
under control
With all the hubbub over her public divorce,
revolving door rehab stints, and head-shaving wackiness, it seems like
forever since anyone talked about Britney Spears as a pop singer. But producer
Sean Garrett, who's helping Le Brit put together her new album, thinks
her upcoming new record will help her change all that.
''She will be coming back really strong,
I promise,'' Garrett told EW at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. ''It
is possible for her to be big again and popular again. Hits always solve
everything. A hit makes people forget just about anything.'' See EW.com

David
Olney's One Tough Town in June |
PR reports: Over his four-decade career, David
Olney has built a reputation not as a kind-hearted troubadour but rather
as a performing songwriter possessed of a sharp literary mind that cuts
to the bone of the human condition. Whether the subject matter is heartbreak
or armed robbery, Olney's cinematic style and fearless approach to lyric
writing have won him renown as kind of a musical outlaw. Listening to his
latest CD, One Tough Town, due out on June 5 on Red Parlor, is like watching
a Sergio Leone Western: It's gritty, smart and dangerous, and you can't
take your eyes off the screen.[see full story for more]-

The
new Crazy Frog a Donkey? |
PR reports: With a European groundswell behind
her, the animated singing and dancing donkey girl HOLLY DOLLY is on her
way to playdates and dance floors all over America through Capitol Records.
Following top 5 single debuts in France
and Sweden, and major national breakouts in Italy and the Benelux area,
Capitol Records will release the "Dolly Song" ringtune on April 17, and
the album Pretty Donkey Girl in the U.S. on May 22, 2007. Joining such
animated stars as Barney and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who drove millions
of CD sales, Holly Dolly's kick-off single and video, "Dolly Song," also
inevitably recalls the drop-dead addictive quality of Euro-pop crossover
smashes by Eiffel 65, Crazy Frog and Aqua. Capitol Records is setting up
a major kids' marketing campaign utilizing, among other sales aids, a life-size
Holly Dolly costumed character that has made live appearances ever since
the European launch.- Click

Threads of Life is the record
Shadows Fall was made to make. The 11 tracks boast boatloads of catchy
melodies, demanding musicianship and amazing songcraft. It's the best-sounding
metal record in recent memory, with loud, crunchy guitars that sit nicely
between the vocals and drums. One could listen to Threads of Life for days.

Here is the ultimate, unbiased,
word on Abigail Williams: they are a bunch young, obviously talented people
who have an idea on where to take their concept of black metal. Whether
they will accomplish this mission and sway the masses is only for time
to tell.- Read

Stripped of imagery, This Too
Will Pass is gentle background music. Hrishikesh Hirway, whose unobtrusive
voice does not match the uniqueness of his name, spends the entire album
trying to match the pitch of a bedtime story reading father.
