Seger's
Biggest Debut |
PR reports: Bob Seger's first studio album
in 11 years, Face The Promise, lands on the Billboard 200 album chart at
#4 with over 150,000 SoundScan units sold. This marks the highest chart
debut for the legendary rocker. Following their first ever national television
performance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last week, Bob Seger &
The Silver Bullet Band will appear on Late Show with David Letterman, September
27th and The View, September 28th.
Face The Promise chronicles both the heartbreaking
and heartening truths of the American experience, tackling such diverse
subjects as technology, consumerism, the war in Iraq, ecology and the fleeting
nature of love and life. It features 11 Seger originals (including a duet
with Patty Loveless) plus one rockin' cover song: Vince Gill's "Real Mean
Bottle." Seger is joined by fellow Michigan native Kid Rock on the song,
which Gill wrote about Merle Haggard. [check out the preview player at

Little
Feat |
Special Ops reports: Rhino Entertainment will
release the The Best of Little Feat collection on September 26, 2006. Born
in the heart of Hollywood, Little Feat wrote iconoclastic songs that combined
rollicking rhythms and tight phrasing with cinematic lyrics about pill-popping
truck drivers and burnouts sleeping in broken-down cars dreaming of hamburgers.
Rhino Records salutes the band that's always "Willin'" with the group's
first-ever, career-spanning single-disc compilation. The Best of Little
Feat will be available September 26.
The Best of Little Feat contains 17 re-mastered
versions of classic tracks released between 1971 and 1998 and follows the
band's evolution from the Lowell George-led original to the modern-day
incarnation that reunited in 1987 - almost a decade after George's untimely
death in 1979. [as always the fine folks at Rhino offer up a listening
party for the CD, you can check that out at the full story link. -

Goldenboy
Underneath the Radio |
PR reports: Hailing from the sleepy Los Angeles
suburb of Diamond Bar, Goldenboy create indie-pop tunes which remind you
of the mixtape to a roadtrip you took long ago. Their shimmery songs travel
through a technicolor world with wide-eyed naiveté. And while their
hooks can be deceiving with an unexpected blue note here and surprising
turn of phrase there, repeated listens will find the tunes burrowing into
your conscience. Goldenboy is Shon Sullivan (vocals, guitar, keys) and
Bryan Bos (drums and backing vocals.) "The name started somewhere on a
European tour I did with Elliott Smith. Elliott said a little joke thing
like, 'Hey Goldenboy.' And I've been Goldenboy ever since."
Goldenboy's new album 'Underneath The Radio'
will be in stores via Eenie Meenie Records on October 3rd, 2006 but for
now enjoy the mp3 at the full story link. - Click

Hanson
The Movie |
PR reports: Indie artists HANSON will premiere
their documentary STRONG ENOUGH TO BREAK at the prestigious 10th Annual
Hollywood Film Festival® presented by STARZ® at the ArcLight Cinemas
in Hollywood in October. The documentary, a film by director Ashley Greyson,
looks at HANSON and their three year struggle with their record label,
Island/DefJam, from an insider perspective rarely seen before. What started
out as a story about HANSON, turned into a bigger commentary on the state
of the music business. With the music industry in the aftermath of corporate
mergers, deregulated radio, and an uncertain future, HANSON is faced with
the challenge of making a new album while dealing with an endless array
of obstacles. Throughout the forty month ordeal, they must learn to cope
with an insatiable record label executive, incompatible producers and ultimately
with each other. In this climate, the band discover if they can strike
the balance between art, commerce and independence. A trailer for the documentary
can be viewed at the full story link. - Click

Form
of Rocket Do Men |
PR reports: Hailing from the belly of Utah's
religious conservatism, Form of Rocket is up to something evil. Their third
release, "Men" is due out November 7th on Sickroom Records LTD and behold,
the long standing Salt Lake grit and grime drivers undoubtedly have another
gem on their hands. Entertaining their metal tendencies amongst a refined
an expansive indie and punk palette, Form of Rocket has developed an uncanny
knack for welding together audio octane that proves to snare both the elder
head banging set and youthful post-punk torch bearers. The followup to
their 2004 Some Records release, "Lumber", "Men" finds the band matured
and well oiled, mechanized to near-perfection with angular guitar interplay,
spited social commentary, throaty howls of conviction, and fuzzed out low
end n' rhythm lockings. A burning testament to the fact that Salt Lake
has its share of actively progressive culture to offer the band's local
adoration is extensive.- Click
