Destruction |
Blabbermouth reports: According to a posting
on DESTRUCTION's official web site, the German thrashers' April 15 concert
in Quito, Ecuador ended in total chaos after the local promoter lost control
of the 2,000 fans that wanted to attend the gig in a venue that could only
accommodate half of them and that didn't have a working lighting system.
"The band wanted to postpone the concert to the next day, but the local
promoter had absolutely NO control of the show and audience," the posting
reads. "The band is really sorry and mad as hell about this disorder! As
a [security precaution], the show was delayed, which led to a destruction
of the venue by pissed off fans!"[maybe the fans were just taking the band's
name to heart? see full story for more]- Click

Proof
Shooter Charged |
antiMusic reports: The man that shot rapper
Proof last week was arraigned on Saturday, but not on murder charges.
Mario Etheridge, 28, was charged with carrying
a concealed weapon and discharge of a firearm in a building. The arraignment
judge set bond at $70,000 and Etheridge will face a preliminary hearing
on April 26th.
Etheridge may still face charges directly
related to the shooting, which is still being investigated by Detroit police.
AP reports that the "Wayne County prosecutor's office said that without
the weapons charges authorities would have had to release Etheridge."

Suicidal? |
antiMusic reports: Eminem is having a really
tough couple of weeks. First his remarriage to Kim ends, then his friend
Proof gets killed and now one of his supposed friends is telling the press
that he may be suicidal.
When you fear for your friend's safety
the best solution is always to run anonymously to the press. That's what
an "unnamed" friend of Em did. This "friend" reportedly told mediatakeout.com,
"I'm not sure that (Eminem) can handle all this ... I'm worried that he
may try to hurt himself."
We won't recount Eminem's other recent
misfortunes for enquiring minds, he has enough to deal with right now like
checking his friends.

Wham
& Run |
antiMusic reports: Police are in hot pursuit
of George Michael after the pop singer reportedly played bumper cars on
a street near his home on Sunday. It wasn't a very even fight as Michael
reportedly plowed his Range Rover first into a helpless Ford Fiesta and
caped off his smashing morning by hitting a Peugeot 204 which in turn slammed
into a Rover 218. He didn't bother to stick around.
UK press outlets report that police will
question the singer about the smash-ups that occurred Sunday in Highgate,
north London. A rep for Michael reportedly told police about the accidents
on Monday. [see full story for more]- Click

Stripes
Vs Diamond |
antiMusic reports: Jack and Meg are holding
back on the cash. So claims Jim Diamond who co-produced and engineered
the White Stripes self-titled 1999 debut and mixed 2000's De Stijl.
Diamond filed suit in Detroit federal court claiming the White Stripes
owe him millions for work he did on those albums.
Jack and Meg reportedly consider Diamond
one of the "Little People" as they claim in court papers that Jim was paid
$35 an hour for his services and use of his Ghetto Recorders studio and
is not entitled to more. Their attorney Bert Deixler says, "It is a meritless
case which will be defended with vigor." A jury of their peers will get
a chance to decide that when the case heads to federal court in Detroit
on June 12th. Maybe the court will also discover the true nature of Jack
and Meg's relation? - Click

Tool
Clubs |
antiMusic reports: We know you were cursing
our European brothers and sisters as lucky bastards when Tool made plans
to play a bunch of festivals across the pond this summer. But us North
American bastards are getting something better, the chance to witness Maynard
James Keenan and company perform in a small venue. That's right, Tool have
announced a 15-show club tour where the band will be playing material from
their forthcoming album 10,000 Days.
The tour kicks off in Seattle on the very
day the CD hits stores. [see full story for dates! looks like a road trip

Victim Dies |
antiMusic reports: The man that was shot by
rapper Proof has died from his injuries. Keith Bender Jr., 35, died early
Tuesday at St John's Hospital and Medical Center.
According to witnesses, on April 11th,
Bender got into a heated confrontation with Proof at C.C.C., a club along
Eight Mile Road in Detroit. Eminem protege Proof reportedly shot Bender
in the head after arguing about a pool game.
Bender's cousin and also a bouncer at the
club, Mario Etheridge, then spot Proof three times in the head and chest.
The shots proved fatal and the rapper was pronounced dead at a near by
hospital upon arrival. [see full story for more]- Click

Bad
Ozzfest Trip |
antiMusic reports: It appears that Bad Acid
Trip or their label had some money to burn as the band has been added to
one of the rotating slots on this year's Ozzfest. Or perhaps main stage
headliner System of a Down called in a favor with Sharon Inc? Bad Acid
Trip will be on the tour promoting their 2004 Serjical Strike release "Lynch
The Weirdo". (Serjical Strike is SOAD's Serj Tankian's vanity label and
the band's CD was produced by SOAD's Daron Malakian).
Still no word on who that mystery mainstage
band is going to be. But we have finally been able to rule out Clay Aiken
and N Sync. Our money is now on Kelly Osbourne, so bring lots of eggs.

Springsteen
Confirms Tour |
Fanscape reports: A US tour has been confirmed
for Bruce Springsteen with The Seeger Sessions Band. Following the band's
initial US date in New Orleans on April 30, and a series of ten concerts
in Europe, the US tour resumes with a series of 18 shows kicking off in
Boston on May 27, and finishing in New Jersey on June 25. Each night, an
all new evening of gospel, folk, and blues will be presented by Springsteen
with the 17-member Seeger Sessions Band.
Tickets for the European tour dates have
all sold out swiftly. Bruce Springsteen with the Seeger Sessions Band sold
out London's Hammersmith Apollo Theatre in ten minutes, The Manchester
Evening News Arena in six minutes, and Amsterdam's Heineken Music Hall
in just four minutes, all unprecedented. Festhalle in Frankfurt, Germany
also sold out in a matter of minutes. Legendary promoter Harvey Goldsmith
said, "We announced Bruce Springsteen¹s concerts in the UK at 9.00am
on Friday 7 April. By 9.10am both shows had sold out. This is the fastest
selling show ever in Manchester."[see full story for more]-

Victory
Vs iTunes |
antiMusic reports: Absolute Punk has posted
some rather interesting reported leaked emails between Apple head Steve
Jobs and Tony Brummel of Victory Records. If these emails are indeed genuine,
then it appears that the big dispute between Apple and Victory is not that
Apple was unwilling to feature the label's music (which Jobs offered to
do) but Brummel's wanting special treatment for his label (as well as his
ego). After Jobs told Brummel "I don't see us doing a major PR campaign
around this - we have too much on our plate that's more important to our
music efforts right now. But we can get your music on iTunes. What's holding
that up?" Brummel responded, "At least I now know that being the ..1 Independent
Record Label in the biggest music market in the world has no meaning to
Apple." And apparently the major labels were not greedy enough to Brummel's
mind, "The majors were not thinking when they gave you their content for
free without negotiating a % of each hard drive sold and/or equity in Apple
or bonuses on increases in the company's valuation." Again these are reportedly
leaked emails between the two CEOs that were exchanged on April 12th but
the Absolute Punk article does not provide a source. Click over to read
the full exchange and learn how great Victory Records is. -

Scam |
BW&BK reports: On Friday afternoon, 307
Downtown had GUNS N' ROSES' 'Welcome To The Jungle' cranked on the stereo
and at least one employee was doing frontman Axl Rose's signature snake
dance. That day, venue managers sent in a deposit for a solo Rose gig on
May 26th and felt certain they had booked the biggest show ever at the
club.
By Saturday afternoon, the song and dance
came to a halt: Following a front-page story in Saturday's edition of The
Daily Advertiser, Rose's booking and management company e-mailed the club's
management, asking why they were disseminating false information.
"We both came to the conclusion that it
(the booking) was fraudulent," said Chad Fouquier, 307's entertainment
coordinator.[see full story for more]- Click
