New
Punk Blues |
PR reports: Two clarifications up front: The
New Punk Blues of Ed Pettersen is a folk album. Of course. And Pettersen,
often mispronounced or misspelled, is pronounced "Peterson." But who is
Ed Pettersen? And why does everyone on both sides of the river in Nashville
seem to know him, like him and want to help him?
The New Punk Blues . . ., Pettersen's "fifth
or sixth" album, features his eclectic song craft as well as some stellar
sidemen: Reggie Young (Memphis and Muscle Shoals guitarist who played on
hits like "Cry Like a Baby" and "Suspicious Minds"), Bob Babbitt (bassist
on "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" and "Midnight Train to Georgia"); Ed Greene
(drummer for Marvin Gaye at 19, later heard on Glen Campbell and Barry
White hits); Catherine Marx (keyboardist for Merle Haggard, BR549, Charley
Pride, among others); Thad Cockrell (Yep Roc artist and member of duo with
Caitlin Cary); Al Perkins (pedal steel man with the Flying Burrito Brothers,
Byrds and Rolling Stones); David Hungate (Toto); Pete Abbott (Average White
Band) and Leif Johansen (a-ha!). Needless to say, you won't hear a lot
of wrong notes. he New Punk Blues of Ed Pettersen will be released January
23, 2007 on Split Rock Records[see full story for more]-

Lennon
Estate Sale |
TMZ reports: For any of you hard-core Beatles
fans out there with a few million dollars laying around, John Lennon's
former home in the U.K. is on the market. Lennon bought the property in
1964 at the height of Beatlemania and lived there with his first wife Cynthia
and son Julian. The house was also the site of the blossoming relationship
between Lennon and Yoko Ono. In fact, in Cynthia Lennon's book "John" she
wrote that she returned home from vacation early to find Yoko Ono in her
house wearing her bathrobe. Ouch!
The house is on the market for $11.1 million
and is 24 miles southwest of London and features six bedrooms, five reception
rooms, a playroom, sauna, swimming pool and enough music history to keep
your cocktail party conversations interesting for the rest of your life.[see

Snot
Records |
PR reports: Ex-Snot/Soulfly guitarist Mikey
Doling is proud to announce the formation of his new label GridIron Records.
The label is a joint venture between Doling, Kyle Turley, (Offensive tackle
for Kansas City Chiefs), Max Harris and former Snot manager Nic Adler.
"I was on tour with Pantera and had just got off stage in New Orleans.
I'm on the bus drinking beers and Kyle Turley, who at the time was an offensive
tackle for the New Orleans Saints, comes on the bus and says 'Who's the
guy from Snot?", remembers ex-Snot/Soulfly guitarist Mikey Doling. "So
I raised my hand like a school boy thinking he was gonna kick my ass for
something Lynn or I did in the past, but he freaked because he was a huge
Snot fan. From there on we've been really good friends."
The first two records released from the
label will be psychedelic rockers The Hairbrain Scheme and Doling's own
Invitro, a new project he put together with ex-members of Los Angeles based
The Wizards. Both artists will release their debut album through the label
in early 2007. - Click
