Sublime
Box |
Universal reports: The Long Beach trio known
as Sublime began with a gig on July 4th, 1988 that as legend tells ignited
the infamous "Peninsula Riot." The chaos and excitement escalated over
the next eight years from the backyards of Long Beach and 40 Oz. to Freedom
to the national phenomenon of their breakthrough album, Sublime. Sadly,
the massive success of Sublime came in the wake of the tragic and untimely
death of singer-songwriter-guitartist Bradley Nowell. But the music lives
on. Celebrating Sublime's legacy as one of the most influential bands of
the '90s, the career-spanning multi-disc cd and dvd box set Everything
Under the Sun will be released on November 14th, 2006 (Geffen/UMe/Gasoline
Alley/Skunk) completing the band's discography and tying up loose ends
for generations to come.[see full story for full tracklisting]-

Prince
of Vegas? |
TMZ reports: Sources tell TMZ that Prince
is playing an invitation only, private event at Club Rio tonight [Tues]
in Las Vegas -- marking the start of his taking up residence at the hotel
as a permanent performer.
Rumors have been swirling for months that
Prince would take over Club Rio (located inside the Rio hotel) and re-name
it 3121, the same name given to his last album. Nothing official has been
announced, but sources tell us that renovations have been done to the club
in less than a week's time to prepare for tonight's festivities.
The club's normal days of operation are
Thursday, Friday and Saturday -- so opening up on a Tuesday might be a
way for the club to host the concert on the down low.[see full story for

An
Other Cup |
Atlantic reports: The journey of Yusuf back
to making music has taken 28 long years. The millions who bought the records
he made as Cat Stevens back in the '60s and '70s always hoped that one
day, the world would again hear his mellow voice and intimate, thought-provoking
songs. There were times when they feared it would never happen. Now the
long wait is finally over and those wishes have come true.
The path that led to his first collection
of new songs since 1978 represents one of the most remarkable tales of
our time. To say that An Other Cup picks up exactly where he left off would
be to ignore the life-changing significance of the spiritual quest that
has taken him from youthful pop singer to arguably the best-known and most
widely respected humanitarian figure in British society today. His work
with children devastated by war and his founding of schools throughout
London has earned him a Nobel Peace Laureate. And yet listen to the songs
and there is so much that is familiar. His voice still has the same rich,
warm patina, he has lost none of his ability to conjure a memorable melody
and his songwriting articulates our profound needs and emotions more eloquently
than ever. Yusuf's album An Other Cup will be in stores November 14th.
The single is now on iTunes but you can check out the video at the full

07 Plans |
PR reports: VH1 gives rockers, rappers, boy
banders and fallen music execs a cozy spot in the home for music and pop
culture. The network has greenlit six new series, it was announced today
by Brian Graden, President, Entertainment, MTV Networks Music Group. The
new music series greenlit include: "Irv Gotti Project," "Man Band," "ego
trip's White Rapper Show," "Whitestarr Project," "Rags To Riches" and "Bridging
The Gap." On the heels of VH1's wildly successful "Celebreality" franchise,
the network creates "VH1's Wild Life" to house these programs.
"The breadth of this slate of music-based
series illustrates, once again, that VH1 is the only place for adults to
go to see the kinds of music and storytelling that speaks only to them,"
explained Graden. "This slate features all kinds of characters -- Irv Gotti,
Cisco Adler, Jeff Timmons, Queen Latifah - we love that they all have a
place at VH1."[see full story for more]- Click
