CMJ reports: The Bang On A Can Marathon, which
laughs in the ignorant faces of other, so-called "diverse" music festivals,
will take place June 4 in New York City. This year's Marathon will include
San Fransisco duo Matmos (playing with drum ensemble So Percussion), Wilco's
Glenn Kotche (debuting a new experimental drum project), Amiina and Anony

the classic "I Just Want To Make Love To You" by British 70's rock act

In Richmond this weekend, Saturday May
20th, Throttlerod will play a much hyped, hometown show with Orange Goblin
and Siccorfight and Beaten Back to Pure. This is the underground Rock show
to be at! The following weekend Throttlerod will play at the HFStival radio
festival outside of Baltimore. The HFStival features Misfits, Anti-flag,
Rise Against, AFI, Boy Sets Fire, H.I.M. and many more during this two

Adrenaline PR reports: Prosthetic recording
artists All That Remains are set to release their new album, THE FALL OF
IDEALS, on July 11th. The album is the follow-up to their 2004 debut THIS
DARKENED HEART, which sold over 75,000 copies. The explosive metal quintet
has come to be known for their heavy riffs, memorable hooks and rowdy live
shows. Revolver Magazine recently dubbed them "the future of American metal".
Produced by Adam Dutkiewicz (Killswitch Engage) and engineered by Peter
Wichers (ex-Soilwork), the first single from the album is "This Calling".

Remains has also been confirmed for a second stage slot on this summer's
Ozzfest. In addition to the official Ozzfest tour dates, the band will
be playing "Offfest" dates with Unearth Norma Jean, The Red Chord, A Life

Press Release reports: After being together
less than two years, Los Angeles based metal band Sydera have just finished
recording their debut self-titled album, to be released on Without the
World Records later this year. "We are very proud of what we've accomplished
in such a short amount of time," lead singer and guitarist Damon Valley
says. "And this is only the beginning."
"The songs are dark and at moments, very
atmospheric," says bassist Will Arkosy. "And there is definitely a progressive
feel to it. I think there is something on here for every type of metal
fan, whether you're into Alice in Chains or Queensryche." The album is
tentatively scheduled for a September release, but the band is itching
to get out on the road in support of it. A few festival dates in the Midwest
have been set for late June and more dates

For Punks: A Steelpan Tribute to The Ramones." A fan of that band, THORNTON

for Animal Welfare (IFAW) today launched the "Whale Remix Project," an
original online contest where users can create their own song using the
sounds of the humpback whale. A celebrity panel will judge the top ten
songs selected by IFAW. The winner will receive a 60GB video iPod and have
their song featured in upcoming public service announcements about illegal
commercial whaling. Johanna Fateman of Le Tigre; Tom Dumont of No Doubt;
Lisa Kekuala of The Bellrays; electronic music composer and producer BT;
composer and producer Wayne Kramer (founding member of MC5); hip-hop artist
and producer Head-Roc; Sid Barcelona of Thunderball; composer and producer
Chris Vrenna (former member of Nine Inch Nails and touring drummer for
Marilyn Manson); and Mike Ski of the A.K.A.s. are members of the panel

Relapse reports: Seminal instrumental band
DON CABALLERO see the North American release of World Class Listening Problem,
its newest record and first in almost five years, today (Tuesday May 16th).
World Class Listening Problem marks the
first recorded work by the band's new incarnation (founder and drummer
extraordinaire Damon Che, bassist Jason Jouver, and guitarists Gene Doyle
and Jeff Ellsworth) and is set for release outside North America on May
22nd. The ten song effort was recorded by the band's longtime producer
Al Sutton (THE LAUGHING HYENAS, BIG CHIEF) at Sutton's Rustbelt Studios
and mastered by Alan Douches (THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, MASTODON) at West

to make antiMusic what it is. So with our 8th anniversary we felt it was
time to spotlight each writer so you can get to know them a little better.
Over the next few weeks we will be posting a small portion of each staff
person's new profile page. So let's get to know Johnny Hardcore a little
better.
Johnny Hardcore is from Huntington Beach,
Ca and has been with antiMusic since late last year. The first album he
purchased was Elton John "Captain Fantastic and The Brown Dirt Cowboy"
- on 8 track tape in 1977 and his first concert was The Smiths - Front
Row Center - Irvine Meadows, Summer of 84. He lists Tool, Led Zeppelin,
The Sex Pistols, Velvet Revolver, Guns N Roses ( The Original 5 guys),
Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam and The Foo Fighters
as his Top 10 Favorite artists. His musical pet peeves are "1) synthesizers�.bands
like Kraftwek, Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears all of those bands�.LAME.
2) Bands that do multiple farewell tours�? Say goodbye and then come back
again�and again,,,,and again�.and�..yet again" His favorite part of antiMusic
is "The Newsletter of course. It's my 15 minute break every day" Click
