Attention Span Web TV |
FMQB reports: Multi-taskers will likely find
a match made in heaven this summer when MTV launches a new initiative that
will marry the programming being shown on TV with programming being streamed
on its broadband channel, MTV Overdrive. Beginning in August with the MTV
Video Music Awards and continuing in the fall with the Total Request Live
(TRL), MTV will offer two simultaneous versions of each show, one on television
and one online, according to the New York Times. Overdrive's online component

Road
Raitt |
Press Release reports: Road Tested was the
apt title for longtime road warrior Bonnie Raitt's 1995 live double album
and film, and the title is more than a catch phrase to the nine-time Grammy
winner it's a way of life. For every album she releases, the true test
for Raitt is how the songs come across live. In the case of her latest
CD, Souls Alike, her new material has elicited resoundingly rave reviews.
Raitt began her current tour last October following the debut of Souls
Alike at #19 on the Billboard 200 and fans will be happy to hear she doesn't
plan to wrap it up anytime soon. In fact, after a series of spring dates
in the U.K. and Europe, she'll embark on the third North American leg of
the tour on June 15th. And, in classic Raitt fashion, she'll be bringing
along another one of her favorite songwriters to open: Keb'Mo'. [see full

MSO reports: Punk super-group OSAKA POPSTAR--fronted
by JOHN CAFIERO and featuring the legendary MARKY RAMONE (THE RAMONES),
JERRY ONLY (MISFITS), DEZ CADENA (BLACK FLAG) and IVAN JULIAN (RICHARD
HELL & THE VOIDOIDS)have made pop culture history by teaming with
the world famous Topps trading card company to add a limited-edition and
highly collectible Osaka Popstar "Wacky Packages" bonus sticker available
exclusively in specially-marked packages in the first run of CDs. John
Williams from Topps Company, Inc. had this to say about the collaboration:
"Wacky Packages and Osaka Popstar share some of the same basic ingredients--a
playful mix of fun, humor and good-natured rebellion. In the 70s, Wacky
Packages achieved pop icon status after spawning a feverish collecting
craze among kids. Now Wacky Packages are back to tickle the funny-bone
of a whole new generation. John Pound has produced yet another Wacky masterpiece
for the Osaka Popstar CD."[see full story for more]- Click

Staff
Meeting: Morley Seaver |
antiMusic reports: A lot of people work hard
to make antiMusic what it is. So with our 8th anniversary we felt it was
time to spotlight each writer so you can get to know them a little better.
Over the next few weeks we will be posting a small portion of each staff
person's new profile page. So let's get to know Morley a little better.
Morley is from Moose Creek, Ontario Canada
and has been with antiMusic since last year. The first album he purchased
was The Osmonds 1st record when he was 9 and his first concert was Rush
on Farewell to Kings tour. He lists Cradle of Filth, KISS, Bjork, Imogen
Heap, My Ruin, Swollen Members, Green Carnation, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath.
Van Halen as his rotating Top 10 Favorite artist. His musical pet peeves
are "Closed-minded people or someone who won't allow their favorite band/artist
to evolve. Also rock stars who think they can start a show an hour late
or cancel if they have a hang nail." His favorite part of antiMusic is
"Today's Rock News!" Click the full story to learn more about Morley and
discover which artist inspired this comment, "Who does this loser think
he is to yap about anybody else?", who he lists as one of the most influential
bands that not many take seriously and a lot more!
