Roadie Vs Terrorists

antiMusic reports: A former roadie for Motorhead tried to stop the July 7th terrorist attack against London, or at least warn police about two radical Muslims that helped carry out the attack. Martin Gilbertson worked as a computer technician for individuals involved with an Islamic bookshop and youth center Beeston, West Yorkshire. He told the Guardian that he met two of the terrorist involved in the attack, Mohammed Sidique Khan and Shehzad Tanweer, at a party held to celebrate the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the U.S.. 

Gilbertson went to work for the group helping produce DVDs and encrypting email, according to an AP report. "I was alarmed and disgusted by what I heard, but I kept my views to myself and they were friendly," Gilbertson said. "They needed my skills, and I was perceived to be anti-government."

However, by October 2003 he said he became so alarmed by "what was going on around [him, that he] went to the police." He was instructed to mail police the material he had collected and the list of names, which he did, but he didn't hear back from police until he contacted them again after the July 7th attack on London. Teen Sex Protest

Gigwise reports: Pete Townshend has removed a self penned story from his own website after complaints from children's charities.

The story entitled �The Comedian' told of a fictional sexual encounter between two sixteen year olds as was blasted by one charity as "just a form of titillation".

Speaking about the story Kidscape director Michele Elliot told the BBC: "It's just a form of titillation. Responsible adults should not put graphic details of teenagers having sex on the web."[see full story for Pete's response]- Click Here for the Full Story

Kool & the Gang Death

AP reports: Claydes Charles Smith, a co-founder and lead guitarist of the group Kool & the Gang, has died. He was 57. 

Smith died in Maplewood, N.J., on Tuesday after a long illness, publicist David Brokaw said Thursday. Brokaw did not know the cause of death.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Backstreet Geezer Quits

antiMusic reports: He is hardly a boy and perhaps seeing the writing on the wall, the oldest Backstreet Boy has quit the pop group. Kevin Richardson announced his departure via a message to fans on the group's website on Saturday.

The 33 year-old band elder said, "It was a very tough decision for me but one that was necessary in order to move on with the next chapter of my life." 

Being one 33 year-old boy down won't stop the other "boys" from carrying on as they entered a studio this weekend to record a new album. But they did bid farewell to Richardson, "The door will always be open for him to return to the Backstreet Boys. We wish him the all the best in his future endeavors," they said on their site. Sad days indeed.

Cypress Hill Sued

Gigwise reports: Hip-hop veterans Cypress Hill are being sued over a sample used on their seminal Black Sunday album.

Songwriter Glen Watts claims the criminally ignored Syl Johnson version of his soul classic 'Is It Because I'm Black?' was used without permission on album track 'Interlude'.

Drugs Kill

Gigwise reports: Top music producer Dallas Austin is facing a possible death penalty after being arrested on drugs charges in Dubai.

The producer � who has worked with a host of stars including Michael Jackson, Madonna, No Doubt, TLC, Aretha Franklin and Boyz II Men � was on his way to supermodel's Naomi Campbell's three day birthday party at the exclusive Burj Al Arab hotel when he was arrested for allegedly transporting drugs.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Sanctuary From Profit

Gigwise reports: Sanctuary Records, the home of Morrissey, The Strokes, Groove Armada and Beyonce amongst others, has announced an expected big trading loss to the stock market.

Gigwise reports: Troubled hip-hop star DMX has left the Def Jam citing difficulties with label President and fellow rapper Jay-Z.

DMX will now release his comeback album �Here We Go Again' through Sony after finding it impossible to deal with his friend becoming his boss.

Sounding distinctly unloved, the Irish Examiner also quotes him as saying, "I made $144 million in the first year - their best ever. How much do you think they gave me? Nothing. TMZ reports: Hip hop heavy 50 Cent and Apple are in talks to produce a line of affordable home computers for inner-city residents, according to a recent report in Forbes magazine. Supergroup's DamnDemos

antiMusic reports: So you've been watching Supergroup every week to see what craziness Sebastian might get into or what Uncle Ted might say to their female cook, or maybe you're hoping to catch a glimpse of Evan Seinfeld's porn star wife. But this is a music group and at the end of the day, it's all about the music (despite what those lame ass publicists says. Yeah, cut you're hair to get more fans! That's rock n roll!). So far we've only heard snippets of the original material the group worked on but now you can check out the demos of three songs including "Take it Back" at the Damocracy Myspace page. Sebastian writes "It is more than a little frustrating to watch the show & see little to no footage of the band actually playing music. When I say on the show 'well we jammed for 6 or 7 hours today' but they show none of it , it drives me nuts!... So here are 3 demos that I did on my laptop... extremely low quality & zero production ... if we ever cut these tunes, they would probably sound nothing like these demos .... but I figured that if they can show me completely rotted out of my skull on the show, I can share with you these crude but rocking demos that we did while in Vegas."
