Hospitalized |
antiMusic reports: Korn frontman Jonathan
Davis was hospitalized in the U.K. for an unspecified illness. The band
was in the UK to take part in the Download Festival. Instead of calling
off Saturday's performance, the band called on a plethora of special guest
singers to fill in for Davis including members of Slipknot, Devildriver,
Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, Skindred and 10 Years.
Because of Davis' illness, the band was
forced to cancel Sunday's Download performance in Dublin and also cancelled
Tuesday's concert in Amsterdam, their support group Hatebreed will play
a headline set instead, according to MetalRage.com. [see full story for

Britney
Vs Photog |
TMZ reports: TMZ has obtained a lawsuit filed
in Los Angeles County Superior Court by a paparazzo claiming that Britney
Spears and her mother Lynne Spears are responsible for serious injuries
he suffered when he was allegedly struck by an SUV carrying the pop princess.
The incident occurred in June 2004, when Spears, her sister Jamie Lynn
and her mother Lynne were leaving a Santa Monica pet store. A number of
paparazzi, including the plaintiff Cullen Reavley, crowded around the vehicle.
The car, we're told, was owned by Lynne, she was also the one who was driving.
Reavley fell to the ground, claiming Lynne ran over his foot. Police and
paramedics were called and Reavley was taken to the hospital. Although
police were called, they reportedly determined Lynne had nothing wrong
and she was not ticketed.
In the lawsuit, filed at the Beverly Hills
Courthouse, Reavley claims he suffered injuries to the "head, neck, back,
trunk and extremities, all of which have caused and continue to cause plaintiff
great mental, physical and nervous pain and suffering." The suit goes on
to claim that the "injuries will result in permanent disability." [see

McCartney? |
antiMusic reports: Legal council for Heather
Mills McCartney said that the tabloids didn't have a leg to stand on when
accusing the former model of prostitution. News of the World reportedly
dug up some four year old prostitution claims and Mills attorney denied
their truthfulness and also said "These are not new stories and were refuted
by her lawyers four years ago when first raised. The sources clearly are
a variety of unreliable persons who have been paid for these stories,"
reports Entertainmentwise.com. "The timing of the article is clearly designed
to cause maximum hurt to Heather, her husband and family at this sensitive
time."
Mills who split with Paul McCartney last
month has been the target of several lurid tabloid stories over recent
weeks. One story involves pornographic photos from almost 20 years ago
that were published by The Sun last week. Another tabloid, The Daily Mail
tracked down her co-star in that photo shoot for his side of the story;
you can read that at the full story link. - Click

Queensryche
Arrested |
antiMusic reports: Members of Queensryche
were arrested this weekend at the Amsterdam airport for reportedly smuggling
illegal firearms, according to their official website. The site reports,
"details are a bit sketchy at the moment, but word just came in moments
ago from Geoff Tate. More info as it becomes available... stay tuned!'
The band is in the midst of playing several
European music festivals. On Friday they played Sweden Rock festival in
Sölvesborg and on Saturday were set to play the Arrow Rock Festival
in Lichtenvoorde, Netherlands. At press time we are uncertain if the band
was arrested before or after that performance but judging by the post on
their official site it appears they were arrested leaving for a scheduled
appearance in Norway on Sunday night. - Click

Ataris
Drop Sony |
antiMusic reports: The Ataris frontman Kristopher
Roe sent us over the following statement: We just wanted to let all of
our fans know that we have requested to be released from our recording
agreement with Columbia Records. Since our last album, So Long Astoria,
almost every key person working at Columbia has either been fired or has
quit, including the President, the head of Marketing, the head of Rock
Marketing, the head of Radio Promotion, and our Publicist. The final straw
for us was last week when the Chairman of the Sony Music Label Group quit,
the President of the Sony Label Group quit and our A&R guy chose not
to renew his contract. This amid industry rumors that Columbia is going
to be merged with Epic Records. We, like so many of the great people who
have recently left Columbia, are not interested in remaining on a label
that is in the process of being dismantled.
As you know, So Long Astoria sold nearly
a million records, following the tremendous indie success of our previous
albums. Normally, a label like Columbia would not honor a million-selling
band's request to leave the label. Fortunately for us, the people granting
our request were, in fact, leaving Columbia themselves. So, while our new
found freedom might cause a slight delay in the release of Welcome The
Night, we consider ourselves fortunate to be able to release our next album
under the best possible circumstances. We will update you with further
details via our website www.theataris.com as they become available.-

Fuel
Find Voice |
antiMusic reports: Fuel's Carl Bell let fans
know late last week that "We got our guy ... and this is gonna be real
good! We've found our singer." Just who it is, no one knows. Although the
band made headlines recently by offering American Idol contestant Chris
Daughtry the gig. Daughtry reportedly turned them down. On the other hand,
fans may read something more into Carl's statement which continues, "We've
been working with this guy for a while now and he's great. Last month we
recorded and submitted a three song demo and, in order to comply with the
powers that be, have been waiting for approval while all this other chaos
has been going on. Well ... they love what they are hearing and seeing
and are excited about what is happening and we are working on getting in
the studio to cut the next Fuel record ASAP. I'll keep you posted for more
details as they come, but ... hey ... we are finally at the starting gates
and ready to roll. Great singer, great songs, it all starting to happen!
Stay tuned! Carl" Could it be Daughtry? Or maybe Jason Wheelington? More

Trannyfest |
antiMusic reports: Some complain that Sharon
has turned Ozzfest into Lamefest with her 'pay-to-play' ways, hyping Avenged
Sevenfold a special surprise and putting boybands on the main stage in
years past. This year someone in the Sharonfest camp got the great idea
to hold a Miss Ozzfest contest and the nominations are in. So if you have
the courage to sift through some on the entries, you can vote for who gets
the Miss Ozzfest dishonor. And yes some of the entries are scary! Aside
from the men vying for the title we'll let you click the full story link
and see for yourself.
