Stealing Music? |
punkbands reports: Is Myspace Stealing Artists'
Music? Billy Bragg certainly seems to think so. He's pulled his music off
the site and below is an explanation posted on his official myspace page.
Someone who we work with was bright enough
to read the small print of the MySpace terms and conditions and found that
once an artist posts up any content (including songs), it then belongs
to My Space (AKA Rupert Murdoch) and they can do what they want with it,
throughout the world without paying the artist.[not exactly true, they
can do what they want with it within the Myspace service, see the full
story to read the "clause in question" which basically is a cover our ass
legally clause not a license to steal. The person was "bright enough" to
read the find print, just not understand it. The full story also have a
comment from Myspace about this ludicrous controversy.]-
