Deicide
Vs Cops |
antiMusic reports: [official statement] On
July 14th, 2006, DEICIDE were caught in a whirlwind of unfortunate events
that occurred during their performance at Hustlers in Laredo, Texas. DEICIDE
were in Texas on a short week-long tour promoting their forthcoming release,
"The Stench of Redemption," when they were faced with payment issues from
the show's promoter, as well as a slough of technical issues that were
also experienced by opening band, RINGWORM. Lead singer Glen Benton verbally
expressed his displeasure with the situation to the crowd, but Benton was
anxiously ready to forge on and play a full set for the audience despite
prior set backs when club promoters called Laredo police. Restlessness
grew amongst the crowd, resulting in several bottles being thrown around
the venue causing mass confusion throughout the venue and between the police,
crowd and band. Laredo police closed down the show, forcing DEICIDE to
cut their performance short. "We wanted to finish the show," Benton genuinely
states but the show came to a halt when police stormed the venue and surprisingly
maced and arrested a member of the band on unclear charges. Benton states
that the police used "excessive force" and many concert goers have confirmed
this with unofficial observations. [see full story for more]-

Panic Channel |
PR reports: As the hundreds of bands who have
shared stages with them know, you can't follow Jane's Addiction. It's better
not to try. That lesson isn't lost on the members of The Panic Channel,
a new band featuring three former members of Jane's -- guitarist Dave Navarro,
drummer Stephen Perkins and latter-day bassist Chris Chaney -- along with
a comparatively new talent, singer/guitarist Steve Isaacs. The three musicians'
collaboration with a singer who is completely different stylistically from
most of their previous band mates has brought them into new terrain, which
is exactly what they wanted. The musicians sound like themselves, but The
Panic Channel is a more streamlined and melodic enterprise.
Capitol Records will release The Panic
Channel on August 15, 2006 but for now you can check out the video for
"Why Cry" at the full story link. - Click

Bad
Brains DVD |
PR reports: MVD Visual is pleased to announce
the home viewing release of Bad Brains - Live CBGB 1982 for worldwide distribution
on DVD on September 19, 2006. This breathtaking performance displays why
Bad Brains became one of the most important bands in the history of American
Hardcore. On Christmas Eve 1982, Bad Brains began their three-day stint
at a Hardcore Festival hosted by legendary CBGB. This DVD represents the
very best of these shows, culled from over 4 hours of footage. Their live
performances were legendary, their visual recordings were impossible to
find. Now, for the first time on DVD, that powerful performance is revisited
in extraordinary fashion. [see full story for tracklisting]-
