Candiria On Hold

SMN reports: Brooklyn based experimental metalcore act CANDIRIA have posted the following update:� If you are not already aware, Ken Schalk has left the band. Its heart breaking I know but he needed to explore new things. So ken, we wish you all the best. 

The new album 'Kiss The Lie' is now on hold because of the lack of a touring band. The label does not believe this record will sell enough copies without a touring band to justify a release. Therefore they are reluctant to release it.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Want the new Clap?

CMJ reports: Brooklyn/Philly indie darlings Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have announced a title and tracklist for their oh-so-anticipated sophomore LP, due January 30. Some Loud Thunder, which will be released on Wichita (with whom the band signed after much rumination), follows their wildly popular self-titled, self-released 2005 debut and features production work by Flaming Lips auteur Dave Fridmann. If the idea of waiting until the end of January to hear the album makes you want to just stop living altogether, it will be available for purchase in MP3 format on January 16 at Insound.com and, for a preview, some new tracks are currently streaming on the band's MySpace page[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

PR reports: A portion of the dates for Pete Yorn's 2007 winter headlining tour have been announced. America Returns

PR reports: The legendary rock group AMERICA returns with their first new major label studio album in over twenty years. The double album, "Here & Now," available January 16 on SONY BMG's Burgundy Records, will include one CD of new material and one CD of live material encompassing their hits. Founding members GERRY BECKLEY and DEWEY BUNNELL teamed up with indie rock's most sought after producers ADAM SCHLESINGER (Fountains of Wayne) and JAMES IHA (Smashing Pumpkins) to record 12 new songs which were written by the band as well as by some of today's most influential new writers and artists.

In addition to Schlesinger and Iha, special guests appearing on the album include RYAN ADAMS, who plays on 'Ride On,' BEN KWELLER who joins JIM JAMES and PATRICK HALLAHAN of My Morning Jacket on a cover of their haunting acoustic tune 'Golden,' and IRA ELLIOT and MATTHEW CAWS of Nada Surf join the group on their own rendition of Nada Surf's hit 'Always Love.' Elliot also appears with MARK ROZZO of Maplewood on a new song that Rozzo wrote for the band called 'Indian Summer.' Fountains of Wayne drummer BRIAN YOUNG lends his skills to a number of tracks including 'Chasing The Rainbow' and 'One Chance,' both written by Beckley, as well as 'Walk In The Woods' which Bunnell wrote. Other notable guest artists include RUSTY YOUNG of the 70's country rock band Poco and STEPHEN BISHOP, best known for his Grammy-nominated song 'Separate Lives.'- Click Here for the Full Story

Jessica Simpson Can Read!

TMZ reports: Joe Simpson says for a cool $10,000 his daughter Jessica will read YOUR magazine! Well-placed sources tell TMZ that ever-opportunistic Joe has called at least two weekly celebrity rags to offer them the "opportunity" to feature Jessica reading their mag in a scene in the upcoming film "Blonde Ambition." We're told that he has asked them to write a check for $10,000 for the privilege of placement -- and to make that check payable to Joe Simpson. Our sources say that Joe has "guaranteed" that he will personally see to it that the magazine will be where it's supposed to be when cameras roll. So far, according to sources, no one has taken Simpson up on his offer. 

Well, this tale may be returned for insufficient funds. A rep for the Simpsons says that there is "no truth whatsoever" to this story. While the rep confirms that there was product placement staff working on the film, she says there is "absolutely no truth" in any request for payment directly to Joe. Low Stars Java

PR reports: Starbucks (Nasdaq: SBUX) announced plans today to launch Los Angeles-based band Low Stars as the third artist featured in the Company's innovative Starbucks Hear Music� Debut CD series, a proprietary series created to introduce Starbucks customers to new and developing artists. Kenny Wayne Shepherd Ten Days Out

PR reports: Renowned blues and rock guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd-along with a film crew, a portable recording studio and producer Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads)- embarked on a ten-day journey into the heart of the American South, documenting and recording an impressive lineup of blues veterans. Warner Bros./Reprise Records releases the resulting documentary and accompanying live CD Ten Days Out (Blues From The Backroads) in January, 2007.

Directed by Noble Jones, Ten Days Out captures the stories and music of some of America's best-known blues artists including B.B. King, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown and Honeyboy Edwards as well as some of the genre's lesser-known rare talents. Shepherd is joined by longtime collaborator and vocalist Noah Hunt as well as friends Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon who make up the esteemed rhythm section Double Trouble (Stevie Ray Vaughan's longtime band). Immersing themselves in the environments which shaped these essential blues musicians, they recorded and performed in kitchens, living rooms, front porches and local clubs. The goal was to produce intimate recordings in intimate settings and to maintain authenticity: no overdubs were used. "What happened is what you hear," says Shepherd, "We kept it as real as possible." This historic trip culminated in a once in a life time performance at a church in Salina, Kansas where Shepherd and friends were joined by the remaining members of Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters' bands at the aptly named Church at Blue Heaven Studios.[see full story for a media player]- Click Here for the Full Story

CKY Ink Deal

RRR reports: Roadrunner Records is pleased to announce the worldwide signing of genre-defying rock outfit CKY. Formed in Pennsylvania in 1998 by Deron Miller (vocals/guitars), Chad I Ginsburg (guitars/vocals) and Jess Margera (drums), CKY's debut album Vol. 1 surfaced in 1999 on the indie label Volcom Entertainment, and was eventually picked up by Island Def Jam in 2001. The band's first Island Def Jam album and breakthrough Infiltrate-Destroy-Rebuild came in 2002, followed three years later by An Answer Can Be Found�. After taking a much needed break, CKY has just began the conception and planning process towards what begs to be a highly labor intensive and collaborative effort. Sacred Reich Reunion / Boxset

Metal Blade reports: The original line-up of the long-defunct Arizona thrashers SACRED REICH - Phil Rind (bass, vocals), Wiley Arnett (lead guitar), Jason Rainey (rhythm guitar) and Greg Hall (drums) - will reunite for several shows in Europe next summer, including an appearance at the Wacken Open Air festival on August 4, 2007. 

Metal Blade Records Germany will release a SACRED REICH premium box set including "Ignorance", "Surf Nicaragua" and loads of bonus material as a 3-disc-package in spring of 2007! Impious Holy Murder Concept

Metal Blade reports: Swedish Powerhouse Impious has finished recordings for their forthcoming new album "Holy Murder Masquerade" in stores January 23rd, 2007!

guitarist Valle Adzic: "Holy Murder Masquerade" is a concept album, a real bloody one indeed. "We hired this Italian guy Andrea Cavaletto who does horror comics for a living. The whole booklet is made like a comic book, with the lyrics inserted in those speech balloons just like in an ordinary comic book. We also hired professional voice actors to bring life to the characters. The story is about this guy, Trent, who is a true servant of God; at least according to his own sick mind. He's soon to complete his work and the listener/reader gets to follow him as he arrives at his final destination. There are a lot of deaths, violence, blood, etc... It's a brutal story indeed." Black Dahlia Drummer

Metal Blade reports: To all of those who don't yet know, Pierre has gone back to Montréal and is no longer playing with the band. He wants to pursue a more secure lifestyle and we all wish him the best of luck with it. Pierre is most definitely the finest drummer any of us has ever played with. In regards to leaving the band, Langlois had this to say... "My trip with Black Dahlia Murder as come to an end. Thanks to everyone who supported me during the last year, I had the best time of my life! And thanks to the coolest dudes BRIAN, JOHN, BART, TREVOR, CHOWDAH and WOODY, I'll miss you a**holes!!!"

So here we are again on the hunt for a drummer� fun fun fun!!! We need someone dedicated; who knows for sure that the touring life is for them, and we need them as soon as possible. Relocation is a must, but not necessary immediately. We have an album to finish writing and many tours to go on. Fear not my children, the BDM will ride again.
