When
Pigs Sing |
SMN reports: The following is a rundown of
today's (Nov. 30th) Howard Stern Show courtesy of a fansite: [Howard] said
that someone sent them a letter about a band called CANINUS who use a pit
bull as their singer. He had some of their album so he played that and
you hear a dog growling to their music. He played a couple of their songs
and Robin said that they had to have made that up. Howard said it was legitimate
and not a goof though.
Richard came in and said that it's actually
a side project of a metal band and it must be one of the guy's pets. He
said there's another band that has a parrot as a lead singer. Howard asked
about the band where the singer snorted like a pig. Richard said that was
a guy snorting, not an actual pig. Howard had one of their songs so he
played that as well saying that it's really fascinating to him. He doesn't
understand it.... SIX FEET UNDER is willing to do the show but Howard said
they've been getting a lot of mail from fans telling them not to have them
on. They can't take more than a few seconds of their songs.[see full story

Bossa
N Roses |
PR reports: The latest in Music Brokers' hugely
popular "Bossa N" series contains laid-back electro-bossa versions of Guns
N' Roses classics like "Welcome To The Jungle," "Sweet Child O' Mine,"
"November Rain," "Paradise City," "Patience," "Live And Let Die" and other
hits. Bossa N' Roses is currently # 9 on iTunes Spain's album charts. Its
predecessors, Bossa N' Marley and two volumes of Bossa N' Stones, have
sold half a million copies around the world with the same formula: melding
massive pop hits with bossanova rhythms, Brazilian beats and breezy female
vocals. The first volume of Bossa N' Stones spent an entire year on Argentina's
national Top 10 albums chart. The compilation is the next chapter in the
best selling "Bossa 'N..." series that reimagines popular classic musical
repertoire in Brazilian bossa meshed with hip-hop and Latin beats.[see

Aimee
Mann and Grant-Lee Phillips Xmas |
PR reports: The holiday season is always full
of surprises, and there's a particularly pleasant one in store for fans
of singer-songwriters extraordinaires Aimee Mann and Grant-Lee Phillips.
Mann's first Christmas album, One More Drifter In the Snow, was released
last month on her own label SuperEgo Records, featuring seasonal classics
old and new. Among them is an imaginative rendering of the delightful and
dastardly 'You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch' from Dr. Seuss's timeless Yuletide
epic, 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas,' featuring a memorable narration
by Phillips. Inspired by this studio collaboration, the former Grant Lee
Buffalo frontman was invited to join the former Till Tuesday frontwoman
for the First Annual Aimee Mann Christmas Variety Show. Phillips will,
among other things, perform songs of his own, including selections from
his forthcoming studio release and will appear on all dates.[see full story
